Hiya guys just as the title says really? what's your honest thought's on things since NYCFC was formed and the way things have gone since the whole CFG stuff with the connections in particular to MCFC?

From my point of view I think it's brilliant because not only can it benefit both clubs with players crossing for various reasons but we are getting to see a club born and grow into something that I've no doubt will take over the MLS like our owners have done to a certain extent with MCFC and aswell as a new stadium I expect NYCFC to start getting all the best young players around because i'm guessing a new academy will be built like ours?

I can understand tension between NCFC towards us over the Lampard thing but i'm certain lessons have been learned by the top brass at MCFC over things like this and they wont happen again,I assure you all that everyone I speak to about the CFG don't look at it as NYCFC being second best to us at MCFC and we see things as a very bright future and I know the interest in the UK is huge towards NYCFC and we see more now that the MLS is being shown on TV over here and I watch most games and I honestly look forward to watch the matches.

So how do you guys view the whole CFG and MCFC situation because I'm interested to know.

Ferran Soriano, is that you?

I was a City fan for years before NYCFC came into being so to me the connection is welcome. I was happy with the jersey, for example but there are a lot of people on here who hate that about the team though, and I can understand that. I thought the Lampard thing was "merely" a bummer, but you'll find a ton of people here who won't ever forgive Lampard, Man City, and/or CFG for him not being here the whole season.

NYCFC and Man City are two separate teams that happen to be connected by ownership, and I'm a fan of both teams. To me it doesn't matter who owns them as I'd still be a fan of both teams, but I think we can benefit from the relationship.

CFG. I'm impartial. They are an ownership group to which I owe no allegiance. This isn't meant as a slight to MCFC fans either. I know (and understand) how important the Sheikh has been to Manchester City but from my perspective NYC2 would have happened regardless of the ownership group. It may have taken another half decade but Don Garber (head of MLS) wanted it, so it was going to happen.

MCFC. I started out impartial. Over the first couple months I started to grow to dislike them immensely. Between the (now trivial) jersey reveal, Lampard fiasco and a few other albeit minor issues, I began to dislike MCFC very much. Not to mention the RIDICULOUS! amounts of trolling from various MCFC fans on this forum. Most importantly was Wilfried Bony. As a Swansea supporter it was crushing to see him move on to MCFC. Knowing full well that he went from being a star to a very expensive bench warmer.

As the season moved on I slowly started to soften up to MCFC. I've met a lot of genuine City fans between here and the Supporters Group that I belong to. As I started developing a soft spot for City I joined a couple FB groups, which has helped me learn more about the team. 93:20 being one of those groups...which btw, you've got some great content over there.

I won't call myself a fan [yet] but if I had to choose a number 2 EPL team, MCFC would probably occupy that space.

  1. Frank Lampard should ideally score 2 dozen goals for us next season then spontaneously combust.
  2. I trust Ferran Soriano less than I do opposing counsel because in nearly 30 years of practice they have collectively lied to me less than he has in not quite 2 years.
  3. If a genie came and offered me a weird, limited but powerful wish to render a single sports team anywhere in the world a nullity as if it never existed it would be MCFC. Seeing as I've grown up and lived five decades in a city with built-in local sports rivalries, it is kind of amazing that MCFC managed that with only 18 months of deception and betrayal.
  4. You I like.
  5. OTOH, I have used the forum's Ignore feature with respect to roughly 60-70% of visiting MC fans on the forum because as einwindir einwindir just noted, wow. Those MC fans have similar opinions of me.
  6. Once again, you I like.
  7. I'm kind of an outlier.
  8. Despite this I wish your group well and hope you all have fun. I prefer my irrational emotions to be sort of not directed at actual people. and keep it a harmless hobby.
  9. Cheers!

What do I really think? They want to take over the world. Since their efforts to own ManU failed , they hate the British crown and what better to way to stick it to them. Buy a team here and slowly take over the Brits most cherished invention: FOOTBALL.

That's a very fair assessment and genuine City fans didn't like what happened with the Lampard fiasco either because at the time the full media focus should have been getting NYCFC up and running with the likes of Villa and Lampard being at the centre of all this.

As you can see from my FB group I run a tight ship where it's great debate but above all everyone's opinion is respected and that's how it will always remain and as you know we talk about everything City including NYCFC because we have many of our fans from across the pond be it City fans,NYCFC fans and fans wo support both clubs and over time I can see the links getting closer and not just with the clubs but with the fans once the MCFC trolls disappear and respect NYCFC for what it is which is a new and great club that has the potential to be the biggest club in the MLS

Thanks for the kind words about my page and i'm glad you see it as I intend to keep it.

I've honestly not got a problem with what you say because if I was in the same position then I would probably feel exactly the same way. I can chat with anyone who supports any club as long as it doesn't get offensive and I can deal with what you say because it's honest and without offence.

I only joined here a couple of days ago because I wanted to get to know more about the fans of NYCFC after watching most of the matches last season and upto now it seems a very decent forum and some of the things I've read about MCFC in a negative way I can understand what's been said most of the time.

PS: Like einwindir einwindir I'm also a Swansea fan but the Bony deal is something I hold no grudge about. That's just business.

Bony is going through a terrible patch with us not only on the pitch but with his injuries,He's not the City fans favourite player at the moment for his lack of effort when he's on the pitch but I guess every club in the world has these kind of players.

Who failed to buy Man United? Sheikh Mansour? that's false because the only club he tried to buy before City was Newcastle United but their owner Mike Ashley didn't want to sell thankfully

You've been friendly, open, and offered tons of useful info. Thanks.

You're welcome.. it's weird for me this NYCFC situation because I know many people who support more than one club in the UK say City,Barca etc and I've never understood how anyone could support more than one club? and my interest/support of NYCFC has crept up on me and if i'm honest I didn't know I was a fan until my missus said to me one night " you always watch City and now you watch these all the time now " and although she was moaning that I watch too much football I realised that I do actually watch NYCFC a lot and enjoy it so I guess i'm a fan now

I haven't followed closely enough to diagnose what's wrong, but I do root for him even if it means rooting for you. ;)

Admit it, your interest increased because you really just want the black away jersey.

Well, let's see. When the club was announced Soriano was telling ANYONE who would listen, "this is not a marketing ploy. This is a real New York club. A separate club." he uttered the same message when asked, point blank if the uniforms would be Manchester clones or not.

Then we received uniforms Manchester fans dubbed "The best Manchester City uniforms they'd ever seen."

Then Manchester caught eyes for a player we signed and we learned the whole separate club thing was a total lie.

Now Vieira was going to leave Manchester and lo and behold 10 wins isn't enough in New York and we fire our coach after 1 season and surprise, surprise we're keeping Vieira in the CFG family.

The writing is on the wall here.

I half expect the club to be renamed "New York EDS" next year but that would obviously ruin the marketing ploy that they said wasn't the objective of the club but obviously is.

We are a farm team.

Oh and let's not forget, they overrode our coach on a young, electrifying player in Fernando Uribe and saddled us with a 36 year old defensive liability. But hey, he'll sell some tickets and shirts and make some headlines. Who cares if he's not a fit for the team at all?

Yeah, we love CFG and Manchester...

I actually love both shirts and they're a lot better than our Nike ones,They don't sell them at our club shops because obviously they won't sell Adidas stuff in a Nike sponsored shop.
