SAFC Discussion

did we do this for wilmington? i think there was a thread but no one updated it....guess since there were no players loaned out last year.

I guess this week we will know who ( if any ) will be loaned out to them, but based on last year i dont think anyone will.

We had an entire section for Wilmington. Due to virtually no loans (Rawls went in 2015 right?) we hardly used it.

there were other loans for likea couple of games like Johansen

oh i remember that one game where they played RB II where you had mcnamara, poku, and players no longer with us like pablo alvarez, ecuadorian player Mendoza ( remember him ? ) and player we had Dunn ( dude played against chicago i think that was it)

I actually think there's a chance Molino is the only starter in that lineup. The entire back line listed are the backups once they have all their starters, and Shuttleworth is probably the backup, too. Ibson, Thompson, and Martin are all backups, and Gatt almost definitely isn't starting up top. Kadrii might start, but is being talked about more as a first off the bench option. It was a good win for San Antonio, but it wasn't Minnesota's Starting 11 or close to it.

Source: I live in Iowa and have a summer associate position in Minnesota this summer, so Minnesota United have become my second team.

The buzz for SAFC is about the same. Yeah, ok, we beat an MLS side, the first in our history, but it was just a preseason friendly. None the less we are quite proud. Here is what our head coach had to say:

“I thought today was a very competitive match for us,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “We are still early in the process and we rotated a number of players through the team today. The team competed well, but there is still a lot to work on. We want to thank Minnesota United for playing us today and wish them the best in their inaugural MLS season.”

We play Orlando City B on Saturday, March 4, before returning to San Antonio.

Good luck to the Blues this Sunday against Orlando City!! I'll be streaming it.

Today was my first chance in 2017 to put my eyes on the team, and I must say it is encouraging. It appears our strength will once again be our midfield as we have added Billy Forbes, a Turks and Caicos Islands international footballer who previously played for San Antonio Scorpions and is a one of our favorites.

However, our weakness, I'm afraid will continue to be scoring goals. We created multiple quality chances, but could not find the back of the net.

None the less it is going to be an exciting season. San Antonio FC will wrap up the preseason against FC Dallas (MLS) in Frisco, TX on March 19. The club will then open the USL season on the road against rivals Rio Grande Valley FC

Good luck to NYCFC in your Home Opener against DC United. PS, how do I get a NYC Pigeon shirt? :)

They are just now learning to play as a team and there is much cohesiveness and chemistry working for the club right now. also, there is a lot of depth. That Vega kid (19, I believe) who came off the bench to get taken down inside the box to earn a penalty kick is one good example. However, we have 3 games on the road in 6 days that will certainly show if this club has what it takes.
