Kreis Officially Out At NYCFC

Not sure it has anything to do with the complexities of the game or MLS 3.0. I think it's much simpler, Kries can't hold a locker room unless it's filled with guys that already know and respect him as a player. He's miserable to play for, full of whining and excuses the only time it's worked out was when he was propped up by his pre-established position and rep within RSL that he earned as a player not a coach.
That's the briefest and most accurate elocution of the idea I've tried to express for 4 years on the BS MLS forum. Well said.

Keri’s had full control over the Orlando roster. He absolutely blew it up over the last 12+ months. Remember when he mortgaged their future by dealing all of their GAM/TAM starting with the Dwyer trade. It went downhill from there with his wheeling/dealing/cutting/signing. He created that Frankenstein’s monster of a roster.
I actually think Orlando has a pretty decent roster. I really don't think Bendik is good, and their fullback situation is kinda shitty. But they have some great attacking talent (Dwyer, Kljestan, Meram, Colman, Yotun - starting in the WC for Peru right now). And I like their CBs if they can keep healthy.

I'm a bit worried now that Kreis is out, they may be able to figure it out a bit.

They have decent attacking talent but I think the pieces are mismatched and for the most part not complimentary to each other’s styles.

Good argument that their Front 5 is more talented than ours right now. At least has more firepower.

The whining part ... every single loss was because of the refs the last few weeks. I mean, it was uncanny and a little over-the-top. Complain once during a six-game win streak? Sure. Twice? Maybe. Three times? You're no longer believable. Six times out of six? You're just a caricature.

I will also take our Front 5 any day. Not sure exactly who we are counting as the 5th player for each squad though. Is that Ofori for us? Orlando has been playing with two d-mids lately, so which one counts as the 5th?

Villa is better then Dwyer, Shradi is better then Meram, and this year Maxi is better then Kljestan.

Colmán is better then Berget, and probably Medina, but out wide isn’t really his best position.

Meram especially hasn’t been very good for them this year, and you can go on Reddit or Twitter and see how they would prefer he not start right now

Dwyer has been almost as productive as Villa during his career here. Klejstan has been a better player than Maxi. Medan has been more consistent longer than Isi has been in the league. And Colman vs Medina is a toss up right now.

We just have a better overall team. But I don't know a lot of MLS clubs that would take Dwyer over Villa right now. Different stages of their career.

So while I do really like Orlando's attacking players, all of these points here are considering past seasons.

Maybe there's an argument that Dwyer has been as productive as Villa this year, but Kljestan hasn't been better than Maxi this year, and Meram hasn't in regards to Isi either.

Now, I know Sacha and Justin aren't playing as well as they have, and perhaps part of that is a function of playing under Kreis. This is partly why I'm not so excited about him leaving, is perhaps the new coach can unlock them.

All true, but worth remembering that the core rationale behind firing Kreis is that they think they should be getting more out of Kjelstan and Meram.

They loaded up on productive, veteran talent in an effort to win now. And did so at a time when the rest of the
league is going young and foreign. If this doesn’t work, they are behind in a big way.

If we're not considering past seasons, then Villa shouldn't be considered in our argument either. He's aged this season.

If anybody here follows the NBA I think its safe to say Kreis Billy King'd Orlando. They used all their allocation money on a team whose goal is just to make the playoffs. Absolutely ridiculous.

Not even close to as productive as Villa. Villa has 3 more goals in 47 less games. I'd say maybe this season the gap has closed, but Villa still has the intangible edge over Dwyer
Kleijstan was better than Maxi last year. Maxi is better this year.
Isi is better than Meram this year. It is no coincidence we are undefeated when he starts.
Agreed on Colman vs Medina, though Medina does have more assists and goals at the moment.

Next year the Nets shall draft again!!!

Meram has been doing this for 4 years. Isi has played 10 MLS matches.

You can't just pick and choose time frames that fit your argument. Villa has been better since he arrived in MLS than Dwyer. Dwyer should be better moving forward. Klejstan has been better since he arrived in MLS than Maxi. Who knows moving forward.

We're all ignoring the big variable. How bad is Kreis that these players took noticeable steps back in their careers this year? Dwyer was an MLS all star. Meram was a full international. Klejstan was the best #10 in MLS. Now they stink.

I'm going to disagree on Dwyer. He has missed a lot of time, and only played 720 minutes over 9 games, but his goals per 90 is higher this year than any year of his career. All six of their wins came in games he started. I do think he happened to be on a hot streak when he was healthy and he could not maintain that scoring pace, but hard to say he took a step back this year based on the limited record to date.

Not sure where I am picking and choosing. I am looking entirely at this season. I only cited full body of work for Villa-Dwyer because you said Dwyer was comparable in résumé when in it is not close.

I do agree a big part of it could be Kreis.
