2018 Roster Discussion

You may not like Ben Sweat, but he has considerably out performed his contract. He's a $150k player. So is Ibeagha.

Ben sweat as your backup/Open Cup LB - cool

Ben Sweat as your starting LB:

NYCFC loanees Andre Rawls and Saad Abdul-Salaam are both in the 2018 USL Cup Playoffs.

Andre's Orange County SC is the number 1 seed in the Western Conference and faces St. Louis FC on 10/20.

Saad's Phoenix Rising FC is the number 3 seed in the Western Conference and faces Timbers 2 on 10/19.

Andre's Orange Country SC defeated St. Louis FC 4-0 and will face Reno 1868 FC on 10/27.

Saad's Phoenix Rising FC defeated Timbers 2 3-0 and will face Swope Park Rangers on 10/26.

Should both teams wins, they'd face off in the Western Conference Finals.

Any idea on how SAS is doing for Phoenix though? Is he getting games and affecting play, or just sitting a lot or looking disinterested?

What the hell was the FO doing giving Amagat a quarter of a mil after rotting on the bench last year and having no resume that would merit that sort of money????

I never thought we could have a worse contract than Mix when it came to salary: production. And here comes fucking Amagat. Are you kidding me??????

There are probably 5,000 better ways to spend $260,000 on the international transfer market. Reyna should be fired for that move alone. And Dome if they conspired together. The only way this make sense is if part of his contract was to smuggle 10 kilos of horse up his ass on his way in from Spain. Otherwise, where’s the value???? No wonder the rest of the team is pissed. Remember the ill feelings in the galaxy locker room when Beckham was making so much more than everyone else? Now imagine that’s Amagat making all that money. I can’t blame him for taking a paycheck he didn’t deserve. It’s like a lottery ticket. But fuck anyone responsible for cutting his check. Remember when we all got excited we fixed our cap issues and got younger. Guess that’s out the window now too.

Seriously???? $260,000 for Amagat??? I mean really???

What about all the rest of the palyers on the team? Does that mean they didn't get any raise at all? (Medina, Ibeagha, etc.)

So, those guys were signed in 2018. I cannot provide a year over year comparison for them.

Also, Matarrita's shoots up quite a bit.

I will say (and I think this first part is known here on the board), I prefer Matarrita to Sweat. But I would definitely prefer Sweat at 68k to Mata at 395k (or even at 200k).
I would take Sweat over a $100K Mata. He’s giving amazing return and value on his contract.

There’s just so much wasted money on this roster.... I realize a lot had to be done to make up for Kreis and right the proverbial ship, so money was thrown around a bit, but Mata, Wallace, TMac (and that 6min defender that is on IR) are all making obscene amounts for their production, and then throw in Amagat’s fleecing contract and one has to question our FO, Cap Guru, and scouts.
