NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Saw Sevilla is looking to move Colombian striker Luis Muriel. Rumor has it back to Serie A, but he'd be a dream DP for us. Would have the same impact as Josef in MLS. This is the type of South American talent we should be going after.

Yakko: [upon entering the underworld]

[in a trance/flatly]

Yakko: all is strange and vague...

Dot: [tranced/flatly] Are we dead?

Yakko: [tranced/flatly] Or is this Ohio...

When I watched Kompany limp off the pitch, my first thought was “NYCFC DP”
Only as long as they announce he’ll arrive in January but he steps off the plane in the summer only to strain his calf the first week of training.

Like you probably would've guessed, Balo and PV have been feuding and apparently Balo's Nice contract is being terminated and he's going to sign with Marseilles.
So he’s Nice’s version of Mix/Lewis ?

Well they are looking for a striker. Read Marseille have their eye on Josef Martinez too.

Would we be able to void the contract? Or at least use the offseason buyout so we could purchase a healthy DP in his place?

I have a lot of admiration and respect for the guy but with his injury history and his advancing age we would have to be insane to risk a DP spot on him, even if we could use a buyout. Do players who endure his injury problems tend to "get over the hump" and enjoy sustained periods of injury-free play later in their careers? I can't think of anybody.

Especially at a spot where we have two well-established starters and good depth with Ibeagha.

I know the first post about him by K Kjbert was tongue-in-cheek, but just wanted to follow up after LionNYC LionNYC post on that this would likely be the worst possible DP usage on several levels.

Let me also follow up that by no means do I want NYCFC to ever sign Vincent Kompany as a designated player, or even a TAM player. I would be open to signing Vincent Kompany as a modest salary level signing player, or be part of the coaching squad should he be interested in that.

The only role I would want Kompany for at this point is "guy who waxes his head up real nice and sits strategically on the sidelines so that the sun reflecting off his massive dome blinds the opposing keeper."

Do you really mean this

No but now I’m thinking about this. A GOOD manager impacts the game in several ways.

A good manager gives you a tactics advantage. Dome doesn’t do that. A good manager develops and improves players. Dome hasn’t done that. A good manager inspires his team. Dome doesn’t do that. But Kompany does.

How dare you?! Domè has been an assistant at Barcelona. He has Barca DNA. MES QUE UN CLUB! TIKI TAKA! Criticising what he did last year means you don't know about soccer.
