Last year wasn't Dome's fault because of midseason takeover, schedule, etc.
Team starts slow in 2019 because -- hey Vieira started slow in 2016, so can't blame Dome.
Team finishes slow in 2019 because of schedule. Can't blame Dome.

Dome back in 2020 with a mediocre-at-best record for 1.5 years.

i was ready to blame him this year if its trash, but fuck man PV still here and with this schedule team is still gonna really be bad in august/september again, except this time the pain will be quicker and not wait till november.

Scrolling through the full MLS schedule, there are tons of midweek games, and most of the time we have one it is alongside several other teams. Almost every week after the first few has at least one midweek game and several have almost a full slate.

So, the question is not: why do we have 7 games midweek (plus 2 on Friday night)? The question is: why are ALL of our 7 midweek games at home?

And don't tell me it's fucking Yankee Stadium. Because I don't know why it is easier to play at Yankee Stadium on a Wednesday as opposed to a Saturday or Sunday. Baseball goes all week.

I honestly not terribly mad at the schedule, as it has a ton of away games on Saturdays. Makes it perfect for travelling weekends. Fly in Friday night, leave Sunday. Fun filled day and a half in a new city. Mini vacations without wasting PTO means more time to waste PTO on longer/more extravagant vacations. Our home schedule sucks ass at times, but to me it's made up in great Away Days.

Also, game #3 vs LAFC is on St. Paddy's day itself. Adding another green scarf to the collection in a drunken manner? CHECK.
Also, Seattle right before the 4th of July and Toronto FC on 9/11 are big games on/before big days in our nation's history.

Matches during FIFA breaks:

Friendly June 3-11
June 1 @ CLB -?
June 6 v FCC - friendly

Gold Cup 6/15-7/7, Copa America 6/14-7/7, ACON 6/15-7/13

June 29 v Philly - gold cup, Copa A, ACON
July 3 v SEA - gold cup, Copa A, ACON
July 7 v POR - gold cup, Copa A, ACON
July 14 @ NJ - ACON

Friendly, September 2-10
August 31 v VAN - ?
Sept 7 v NER - friendly
Sept 11 v TFC - ?

*? denotes break hasn't started or is over, but player may be traveling or recovering

And yet the EPL just finished 4 matches in 10 days, followed by a cup match 4 days later. Some teams did well, some didn’t, and ManU (with an interim mngr) won all which was against the grain of their season, so at some point while the schedule may suck it’s down to the manager & players to deliver.

Dome doesn’t get a bye this year. He either delivers or he doesn’t.

Atlantaaaaaazzzzzzz has half of their games on network tv. Half. Gotta keep pushing that role model.

i think most we had was like 12 in a season.....and you know what one of those games was? that 7-0.

also none of this can shock anyone. its all about names and draw. NJRB have had good teams many times and yet they barely get any games. We dont have names no more. no one gives a fuck outside of us (if even that)

9 games on ESPN/Fox Sports networks. Seems low for a New York market team.

We're irrelevant. A month ago I linked to the mlssoccer.com post-cup 2019 Preview discussion and noted that NYCFC was not even mentioned. All I got was people jumping down my throat because I dared to treat the MLS panelists as anything other than biased hacks and morons who hate NYCFC. But the networks and sponsors agree. As of now we are not expected to matter in 2019. Maybe we sign a star, and maybe we play above expectations. And maybe people someday will judge ideas without dismissing them because of who said it.

These denote the games I'll probably be able to attend. (NE,Philly by bus, RB by tran, ATL/FCD/ maybe fly out to those) Thanks to finally being out of school and in work, I can properly do sunday away games!
Even though the schedule looks quite shit, I'll be able to attend 10/17 home games- one less than last year, but a lot more away games, so hopefully we don't suck on the road this year.

Of our 7 midweek games.
  • 1 has a game the preceding weekend but not the following weekend (i.e. not a three-game week).
  • 2 are three-game weeks with all 3 games at home.
  • 2 are three-game weeks with the first game away to an East coast team (DCU and Cincy) followed by two home games.
  • 2 are three-game weeks with only the middle game at home and the first game at a Western Conference team (RSL and DAL). These are the brutal ones.
4 of our three-game weeks are in the second half of the season, including both of our ones with trips to the west. We also play both of our games against Atlanta in the midst of the brutal three-game weeks with two on the road.

Here are the 7 setups
  1. @DCU; CHI; ORL
  2. @CLB; CIN
  3. PHI; SEA; POR
  4. @RSL; HOU; @ATL
  5. @CIN; CLB; NJR
  6. NER; TOR; SJE
  7. @DAL; ATL; @NER

For comparison, Atlanta has 8 midweek games, only 2 of which are at home.
