2019 General MLS Transfer Rumors

Massive loss for Toronto. They are the type to reinvest/drop cash to replace, but Giovinco was a pure talisman on that team, as striker and free kick specialist, and that will be hard to replace since the player will have to want to play on turf and put up with Bradley. Those last two could be dealbreakers for any self-respecting European player.

Is there a TFC version of Midas Mulligan ?

What if we all had doppelgängers at other MLS teams?

Looks like Giovinvo has left training camp back to Toronto to complete his transfer. That’s one less team to worry about in the east.

Breaking: Giovinco has left TFC camp as transfer takes shape

This on top of Vazquez puts them in a hole. Though I welcome their trouble, I would have liked them to keep the band together for one more run at CCL.

Meanwhile the Red Bulls have their own headache with the Kaku Club America saga.

His agent is a real piece of work. They apparently will owe 20% of any fee they get in return to Huracan (where they acquired him), which puts the current offer from CA as a loss for RB.

They might retain him, but then Kaku is unhappy probably even with a raise.

And Atlanta is still on the hot seat with 4 DPs, and despite everyone's jokes/paranoia that MLS will somehow revise the rules for them, I don't see it happening, though I fully expect them to make a deal with Newcastle in the next 3 days at a compromise price as both sides blink. Best case scenario for us is Newcastle manages to acquire someone else and leaves ATL high and dry, but they seem to strike out everywhere. Or maybe Newcastle won't budge at all and Eales has to decide whether to sell on the cheap (but probably still a profit). Of course they still have Pity no matter what but it's nice to see we're not the only club with tough problems.

MLS website is reporting that Toronto are after Terrence Boyd, which would help cover some of their off season losses (assuming he stays healthy).

The Kaku situation is becoming a farce. Most of that blame lies with his agent, although the player is certainly underpaid (only $700K or so). The article in the Athletic is a good one.

Is anyone having a really good offseason? Seems like there's turmoil everywhere you look (and I'm 100% here for it)
All of the contenders have questions. Atlanta will solve their DP dilemma and still be an elite team, but can they effectively transition between coaches, one who had two very short unsuccessful stints prior to this gig while avoiding the Toronto champions syndrome?
RB has an elite player in question.

SKC got the better deal. They’re a club that keeps stockpiling AM - they got a boatload from Orlando too for Dwyer. While they lost a good defender, they’re able to add $500k to their roster cap for the next two seasons (or $333k for the next three / standard contract) - that’s ridiculous to be able to add another quality player that most clubs don’t have.
