NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Warshaw is more of a troll than Doyle, saying things he doesn't believe just to create conflict or controversy. TBF he's a good spirited troll.
Doyle rarely says something he doesn't have a reason for, but that doesn't mean it's right or even well thought out. If you look at Doyle's tweet, what Lopez has in common with the 3 players Doyle named is they all have a history of changing teams every year and not quite fulfilling potential. It's a red flag to be sure, but Doyle doesn't even claim to have seen Lopez. Like Mitrita, Lopez recently had a break out season, with 29 goals in 49 games in the Polish top division the last 1.5 years. Of course waited until he was 5-6 years older than Mitrita to start scoring in bunches.

One of my wife's cousins is married to a NY area sports talk radio host. Early on in our relationship we talked extensively about how much of his job was to speak what he believes vs how much was to say hyperbolic or outrageous stuff to get people worked up. He basically said that the latter was the entire job. It's nice if the two overlap, but the job is really entirely about getting people agitated. Agitated people tend to tune in more.

I’m gonna guess she’s married to Greg Gionatti? Haha

I’d rather have Carlitos and Tajouri on the wings playing as poaching wingers with Mitrita playing as a false 9.

Whatever gets the ball to Treats' feet in the attacking third. Dome cycled 3-4 players as the "9" in the first half last week, and we looked like ass no matter who was up there. Playing through the middle and trying to get diagonal runs into the box seems like what this team is destined to be best at, but we've seen time and again that Dome likes width. If we can get Maxi and Treats playing off eachother the way Villa and Maxi did towards the end of 2017, we could really be dangerous. I think Mitrita will be able to make the runs Maxi expected Villa to make but probably to a higher success rate, especially on the counter, which his highlights seemed to suggest. We're going to be so fucking fast.

Interesting that message boards don’t reflect that at all.

Probably an agent leak.

As Atlanta continues to rise and we move further from our Villa/Lampard/Pirlo days it will be interesting to see if we start to fall out of favor as the first choice MLS club foreign agents think of when they want to bluff that their client has an offer from an MLS team. Or will we always be one of the first that comes to mind for them because they don't understand MLS salary rules and think we are a good bluff to drive up offers due to our connection to CFG.

I think the Pogba deal in Atlanta proves this. Team of choice.

Doyle’s whole brand is being a troll. The MLS Digital crew even plays up “Doyle just trolls people on Twitter all day”.

As for player evaluation, somebody (because I’m lazy) post Doyle’s “Orlando is exactly how I’d build a team if I was a GM” statement. Enough said.

At least Warshaw got into an argument around why Villa was a more impactful signing than Giovinco. He’s right.
