2019 Offseason Thread

I'm here to add that it looks like Dome is wearing old school Copa Mundial cleats which kind of rules
Would have been really impressed if he was wearing old school Patrick cleats. Platini, Juventus, Keegan and Gold Cup were some of my favs.

We have two left backs who play for their national teams. Like them or not, a left back is not on the clubs radar.
Sweat played for an interim manager. And he embarrassed himself, and the league and he’ll never get another call up. Rightfully so, too. Matarrita is never healthy and can be inconsistent, and any run he’s gotten with CR is almost always as part of a 5 man defense.

Like it or not, we don’t have a decent left back and we need one. If the club isn’t looking there, that’s part of my criticism.

Not exactly proving me wrong to not respect your takes, dude. Not at all.

Our manager played one of them as a RW and CM more than a LB I believe.

I didn't disagree with you, we are weak at left back, but you failed to understand my point. The club appears satisfied with our left back options (who probably have a cap hit of around 650k) and almost certainly are not actively seeking one. This is unfortunate, but if the reports of Sweat getting a raise are correct, then it was clear at that point what the club was planning to do.

I'll carry on.

I'm thinking it would take a couple injuries/international duties for Mata to crack the lineup in any midfield position this season. If Sweat locks down LB, Mata may see some rare minutes elsewhere, but like last season, that wouldn't indicate that he is not primarily a left back, just that he couldn't beat out Ben Sweat.

Wait.

There’s an NYCFC Poland?

There's not one but 2 NYCFC Poland Twitter accounts. There's the one currently reporting on the Carlitos situation
https://twitter.com/NewYorkCityFC5
and this one, which seems to have gone inactive right around the first historic home opener in 2015:
https://twitter.com/NYCFCPoland.
Which is a shame because the defunct one has the better handle.

FYI we also have NYCFC Portugal, inactive since 2014

And NYCFC Brazil, quite active
