2019 Offseason Thread

It wouldn't help the lack of confidence the fan base has in Domè if they came out, gave us a bunch of corporate talk then a few weeks into the season the results completely went against what they were trying to sell.

I'm not asking for corporate talk. I'm asking for interviews that yield real, honest answers to stuff.

Why would that be a problem for the club? Especially if they think they're doing the right thing?

There's been lots of content, but the team should have had more long-form interviews with Dome and Reyna to give us more of a look inside the why and how this year's roster was created. I feel like they're doing more content this preseason, but virtually none of it has been enlightening in any way. The "podcasts" were good and kinda sorta got there, but they were far too superficial and asked no actual questions. It was like they wanted to give the appearance of access without actually doing it.
Honestly I disagree. The interviews weren't supposed to be about "how's the team doing" but more of "get to know this player" and to most casual fans, the interviews are exactly what they're looking for. They did the same when dome arrived and we learned so much about him that it endeared everyone to him. If you want real quality info, rake up Araos's position

It wouldn’t be a problem but there isn’t a huge amount of demand for that. The loudest voices don’t make them the most voices.

I wish we’d have some interviews with Dome and Sims

You guys saw he did an 8-minute sitdown a few weeks ago, right? It's one of the longest videos the club's put out all year.

Fwiw, a brief look at the Red Bulls and Atlanta YouTube pages doesn't turn up a single sitdown with either of their managers. (There's raw video of FdB's introductory presser, but that's it).

You're right, my mistake.

I still maintain that I'd like to hear more from Claudio. The sporting director should be heard from more often.

Agreed. He’s essentially the order taker here in the USA for CFG. He’s the one that works behind the scenes with Ferran.

He should do a listening tour. Not Brad Sims.

I'm not sure I agree.

I don't see why the GM should have to listen to what fans want. His responsibilities are sporting only. I'd be concerned if a GM for a team I rooted for was looking for advice from the fanbase.

The CEO on the other hand, that's handling all the other stuff. That makes a lot more sense to receive fan feedback, IMO.

What I’m saying is that titles are just titles.

I doubt they have a formal flow chart for this but Claudio isn’t taking orders from Brad Sims or Jon Patricof.

Yeah, and I wouldn't expect him to. I just don't see how his role would be one to listen to fans' thoughts on things.
