2019 Season Ticket Thread

No more quick exit from the garage onto the Deegan. That could be a serious time fuck for the commute home. FFS.
Another huge fuck up from the front office.
It would be easier for me to pick up my father, park in the city, take the 4 train back and forth, and then drive him back then for him to park in the River Avenue Garage. What a mess. Everyone with a parking pass should call their reps.
I already emailed to ask how do I get there when that stretch of River Avenue is closed before games? I'm sure they let you in with a pass but I'm testing to see if I get a response before game time. Pathetic if I don't given when they told me.
Then I'm going to see how long it takes to get in and out and make my complaints Monday.

And the validation (they just couldn’t get the scanning right) is as far away from the parking lot as you can get.

Why they can’t bring the validator (it appeared to be 100% mechanical) to the premium areas I do not know.

I wonder if they're just not opening some of the other garages to consolidate the parking and hire a few less $13 per hour emoyees.

As I mentioned in my complainy email to them, "Premium" parking is now more restrictive, and thus less valuable, than regular parking.

And I'm pretty sure they close River Avenue a long way so you can't even get there from the River Avenue entrance. You have to do circles to get to the entrance. It's going to suck all season long.

This has been the worst season for the front office since 2015.

So I checked the parking pass when I got home and they do say that they only work at the River Ave garage on the back. I guess Fan Services finally realized nobody was going to check. Believe it or not I actually thought last night that I should check before I leave Sunday in case they did change any garages, and I probably would have remembered. But I never expected they would drop every garage but one, and keep the least accessible one.

It could even be a real estate, taxes, or bondholder thing. Last year the 153rd Street garage was 80% filled with long term fleet parking. Hell, if you want to get optimistic (crazy, I know) you can think that the Ruppert and 153rd street garages are going to be unavailable because something else is going to be built there....

But hell, what are the odds of that.

The team's been using this "building together" tagline for a few months, which seems pretty weird to me since the biggest complaint about the club is that they're ... not building something specific. Why are they drawing attention to that by making it their tagline?

Unless they firmly believe something is about to happen and the marketing line is a tease.

Scratch the bit about the passes saying River Avenue was the only option. The pass says it would only be the 164th Street garage, which is across the street from the River Avenue one. I read too fast. One is 950 River Avenue and the other 951. Also the pass says the 164th Street Garage has only 290 spots. I would not be surprised if they had to switch because that wasn't enough. That seems awfully low and River Avenue is bigger. According to a pass I have leftover from last year River Avenue has 1,205. They're both equally hard to reach.

The 164th street garage is the one used by employees and players, so even if there are 290 spots a lot of them are taken and/or reserved long before fans get to the stadium.

I thought about that, too. The validator is close to Legends and Delta, and far from Champions and Pitchside. This setup is most crazy for pitchside people I think. They garage is basically across the street from where they sit. But they have to park, then walk to the other side of the stadium by Jerome Avenue to get validated, then walk all the way back to pitchside to sit. At least I guess it's a short walk when they leave. I also remember when I sat in your Champion seats (thanks again) that the detour to get validation was ridiculous. The garages I used to use were convenient both for where it was convenient for me to enter/leave the stadium and for access to the highway. Now neither is good.

I can’t imagine they aren’t opening the other lots nearby. They get plenty of business every week.

More likely the free parking is more easy to implement at a single location, and they made the poor decision that the lot closest to the stadium was the one people would prefer.

I do recall that’s the garage that stays open the longest after games, which might also be a factor. I was supposed to park there a couple seasons ago when I was taking the boy to a post-game autograph session. I couldn’t figure out how to get in with River Ave closed and ended up street parking.

Why do you need to validate if you have a free pass? What kind of system is this?

I believe this is the case. Here's what the note said:

"Following up on our Match Day email which was sent out earlier this week, there has been a change to which lots will accept NYCFC Premium Parking Validation passes. Starting with the home opener this Sunday, the free parking validation passes will now only be accepted at the River Avenue Garage (950 River Avenue, Bronx, NY). . . ."

I believe it was different for different lots. At the one I used, I would just have to give them my pass when I entered the garage before the game, and that was it. No additional validation was necessary.

That's how the Ruppert Plaza garage worked. The 153rd Street Garage always used the validation system. To add some detail, when you enter the garages that need validation you get a typical garage ticket from a machine when you enter. You take that to one of 2 stations in the Stadium (both on the Jerome Avenue side of things) with your pass. They punch holes in the garage ticket that turns it into a paid ticket you can insert when you leave. Without a pass, you go to a machine in the garage that charges your credit card and does the same thing.
Besides being able to skip validation, the other system is better because after the game everyone just drives out with no pausing for machines or gates.
I do agree other garages will remain open for pay-per-game customers. I do wonder if more of them have been given over in whole or in part to long term fleet parking like 153rd Street.

For those of you that care ( LionNYC LionNYC mgarbowski mgarbowski JayH JayH et al), it is my understanding that there will be a parking validating machine at the Champions check-in desk (by the entry to Sec 113).
