New York City Football Club vs Los Angeles Football Club
Yankee Stadium
Sunday, March 17th 3:00 PM ET

The first time that LAFC comes to Yankee Stadium.

I'm watching the game right now- LAFC look good, but not infallible. Look like a very easily beatable team. Also, they're currently the only team never to have played on our YS pitch**, and I think that will play an important role in what's going to happen.

**Teams that have had a full season of play, so I'm not counting Cincinnati here.

Didn’t they win 4-1?
Yeah but Portland just looked bad. When I was watching them play, they had many moments where they couldn't get passes through. Does it mean they won't? No... But they definitely looked beatable, especially at Yankee stadium

Your first sentence could easily be in reference to NYCFC.

I think we’re going to look back at this season, as many will, and realize that, save the two Chicago matches, the beginning of our season was brutal.

Orlando is much better. That’s obvious now. We believe that DCU is a contender in the East. LAFC score goals for fun. Toronto just brought in the third most expensive player in MLS history. Minnesota has 6 points in two matches. And Montrea looks game.

Throw in a match at the Galaxy and Columbus at home...that’s a tough stretch to start the season.

It gives me some hope because I do think a reinforcement is coming. I just wonder if we’ll be too far out of it in July for it to matter

You're not wrong, but I think we'll be able to do it. They haven't yet played in Yankee Stadium, and I don't think they'll be ready for it.
I’m not sure we were ready for it. The field conditions are so abysmal that it’s not a home field advantage for us, and we don’t take advantage of the smaller area to push the ball quickly forward like we did with PV.

LAFC has a front line of snipers.... SJ is gonna be under siege from the opening whistle.

Dare I say this is a make or break match for our squad? 2 points out of 9 to start the year is miserable. 3 isn’t great.

5 out of 9 with so many moving parts, with two of your toughest home matches out of the way? Could be a rallying cry.

How did Ramirez go for so little? Everyone loved him and LAFC poached him for what seems like very little.

That was a head scratcher, and yet it’s worked out beautifully for Minnesota who seems to have a very nice mesh of talent and personalities. At the time, I thought they were idiots for trading him away, but it looks like addition by subtraction.

For search engine purposes, the op has the incorrect date for this match.

With the new playoff format, just getting in isn’t good enough anymore. Very hard to win 4 MLS matches in a row on the road. I’ll happily eat crow. But I don’t see any team below a 3 seed ever winning the cup.

They say the same thing about the NFL and 6 seeds have made the superbowl...
