Let’s be done with these shills.

Look at what they do at all of their foreign sub-accounts. There is no intent to win. No intent to deliver anything here.

We’re all fools to keep paying them money.

Here’s a prime example of their plan to be as successful as efficient for their marketing/global transfer fraud machine:521AA8C8-6F94-4017-9006-5B55AF8E8766.png
It’s the best we can hope for, and we did it in 3 years. They have no intent to try to win this league. Have never. Will never. We were all duped.

Are you out as a STH? Based on your tweet I assume you’re going to just casually support the club and wait for them to prove they’re for real.

That’s my plan. I can’t go out now. The flub owes me enough in credits I’m covered for the year.

ETA: flub is just a fortunate misspelling of club

What am I looking at here? Melbourne City?

Not surprising. It would be so easy for CFG to take this club seriously and dominate the league.
Exactly. It’s so annoying that there’s no effort put into this.

It’s even more annoying that all of the damn MCFC fans during lampardgate were actually right.

The A-League has even more roster regulations that MLS. And MLS is a much faster growing league than in Australia. Plus, there's more money to be made. And it's fucking New York. Calm down Midas. What if Liverpool owned NYCFC and we played at Yankee Stadium (even though they also own the Red Sox), would you say Fenway out?

If they hired a dickhead manager and showed no ambition, absolutely.

I made my peace with that part before I even bought tickets. But I thought the club would actually intend to win. And I thought they cared about NYCFC supporters, not trying to just capture more people such as yourself who decide to adopt CFG on the whole as a way of life.

NYCFC was my foray into soccer. So yeah, I've taken on all CFG. There's nothing wrong with that.

My memory is that the MCFC fans argued during Lampardgate that CFG owned a magic lamp that would turn any team it owned into a winner so we should all trust ownership and shut up while we waited. And I remember us arguing that one data point was not evidence that they could or would be able to replicate it elsewhere. So I don't see how this proves the MC fans right. This is sort of the opposite of that. Doesn't your current analysis of NYCFC's status vindicate our arguments back then, and not the MC fans?

I think you rightly point out one of the two distinct sides they took (some folks said both, tbf).

The one you mention was probably prevalent. But there was also a large contingent telling us more or less “know your role” as just a resource (an asset or liability as circumstances require) to Man City.

And while I admit that this seems out of the blue a bit, I just read the Athletic article summarizing CFG’s crimes against competitive football, and I’m fed up with being a part of it (when there’s no tangible benefit accruing to my local club).

The field is worse. The signings are uninspired. The training facility looks like it was built by FEMA. The team isn’t fun. Going to matches isn’t fun.

I’m all in on play the kids, results be damned, and I’ll show up to root on the young players I like and see the other teams’ stars. But I won’t go expecting or even caring much about results.

And some of that is definitely cognitive bargaining to help me cope with basically wasting another couple of thousand $ or whatever it is on a product I no longer really desire.

In short, nothing about this club sparks joy for me right now other than Sands, Keaton and Lewis.

What will be interesting, is to see how the trickle down effects of the FIFA FFP investigation hit CFG/MCFC. For all intents and purposes, they should be banned from the CL for the foreseeable future, and who knows if additional punitive restrictions will be levied such as transfer bans.... and I hope MCFC is hit with the harshest possible punishment.

So if CFG can’t spend their money on their prodigal first born, will they then focus their time/efforts during their punishment cycle (because that’s what it is, just one of many more considering how they cheat the rules on sponsorship) on their other clubs, or will they ignore their other clubs even more since it’s gonna take massive focus to keep MCFC winning without a constant injection of pricey talent???

I’m of the opinion sanctions against CFG/MCFC are gonna dry our well up, and I’m ok with that - prefer them to just sell us off to an interested & local owner, and the sale would bolster their bottom line which would be an immediate help to their FFP.

Haha, love the FEMA reference- I always had it pegged as IKEA, but yours is solid too. Maybe a FEMA inspired line at IKEA?

And don’t forget the other two youngsters that have growth potential and skills to enjoy, Haak and Scally.

when you talk about crimes against competitive football are you talking about sportswashing?

Don’t even have to get into sportswashing.

What really kills me is the exploitation of the African academy. Even if they didn’t execute on any of it (because I don’t know if they did or didn’t), the fact that the plan was clearly put into place is damning enough.

I thought we had put aside the "not trying to win" BS when Mitrita was signed for an $8.5 million transfer fee, one of the largest in MLS history.

Not trying to win and not knowing how to win in MLS are different things. I think CFG wants to win in MLS. I don't think they know how to win.

Though our records under Vieira -- and our pretty good roster construction -- indicate to me they were close. Then they hired Dome. Listen, they made a mistake with the coach hire. We all see that. Hopefully that mistake can be rectified soon, but I don't think making a mistake on Dome's hiring indicates that they don't want to win, not when they just put down such a large transfer fee.

I just want to take this on for a second, though I think your issues with those investigations are bang on.

The field always looks like shit on Opening Day, because the grounds crew doesn't have enough time to get the sun on it in February. I think we've had a major snowstorm every year in the week or so before the home opener. The reason the field looks so bad is that it only gets green when it's being exposed to sunlight. They don't keep the grass on the field all winter, so they just didn't have enough time to lay it down -- plus the snowstorm a week before the opener and cloudy conditions in the days before the game meant that infield area never got sun. I bet you it will look much better this weekend now that it's had a week to take hold and we've had so much sun this week.

As for going to matches -- I disagree. This is all personal opinion, but I rank NYCFC games up there with Rangers games as the most fun atmospheres in NY sports. (I don't go to Giants/Jets games so I can't speak to that). I actually think that in regular-season action, the stadium gets consistently louder and more engaged for NYCFC than it gets for most Yankees action.
