Probably. DC is widely touted as the best team in the East and they were less able to break down a bunkered down Impact than NYCFC was -- after being able to study what the Impact did against us.

This season feels like watching 2015 NYCFC with better individual players so far, but the team should be much more potent with Maxi at the 10 and Heber at the 9

Rooney didn’t play. DC isn’t the best team in the east without him.

And we didn't have Maxi but we dominated the 0-0 tie while DC was outshot and Montreal had the better opportunities.

DC did have Rooney when they played LAFC at home. I felt better about NYCFC's season after watching a chunk of the game last night, but that will change if we don't get 3 points on Saturday.

If you want to label NYCFC as being better than they are if Maxi has played, go right ahead, although Maxi has played this year and we looked like crap.

There is no denying that DCU peaks only with Rooney. If he’s not in the lineup, they aren’t best in the east, so your original statement is misleading to use as a comparison to our match with Montreal.

We are better when Maxi is played in the correct spot, as a creator/deep lying playmaker. Putting Maxi at striker is like putting Rooney as a defensive midfielder or sweeper in front of your CBs. I don't think it's crazy to say DCU peaks with Rooney at striker, NYC peaks with Maxi as a distributor.

Dome's use of Maxi as a striker in his first 3 games doesn't correlate with his abilities as a midfielder.

Maxi played in his preferred spot last year under Dome and we looked like crap. Until NYCFC shows they can win, as mgarbowski mgarbowski likes to say (about DC), then I’m not going to try and read the tea leaves of IF/THEN situations and claim we’re better than our record indicates.

I’d love Dome to say “fuck it, let’s just play PVs exact style for a match and see what happens” 90% of the team knows how to play it.

They would have to train it for a bit - muscle/mind memory for PV’s system will have atrophied.

Impact didn't have Piatti either, but it's hard to judge because usually midweek games are garbage.

Kaku with the worst incident I've seen in my history of watching MLS. Frustrated, there is a stoppage in play with a throw in ensuing, Kaku kicks the ball and blasts it into the crowd. It hits the head of the ball kid.

Straight red.

Must be additional games suspension. At least 4-9 additional games

dude is trying really hard to be released to go to club america or back to argentina for free

Wonder how the Red Bulls feel about forcing Kaku to stay in New Jersey after he campaigned for a transfer. He is going to be unavailable for a while.

It’s not clear Kaku meant to launch the ball into the stands vs. off the advertising board, but no matter. That’s the difference between 20 games and, say, 5.

For context, Tim Howard was suspended 3 games for simply cursing at a fan that heckled him.
