Heads up, Colorado-Seattle has been postponed till September so none of those players will have a DGW. Good luck drafting a whole new lineup.
Leaving people who Captained someone from DC/MTL with an advantage over those who went with COL/SEA. There's no way around that but it's just another level of randomness making me tired of this game.

Could've been worse, the only captain pick in the first game was Lucho and he didn't do much. I figure most people will have plenty of time to hand off the armband from Lodeiro to Vela.

True. I wonder how many (how few) people had the nerve to captain a Montreal GK or defender. They have a nice score in hand, plus now a chance at home against a Columbus team that has not been good at scoring away.

PIGEON CUP FORMAT

With only 8 teams we are going to have a group stage with 2 groups of 4 teams. Each team will play the other teams in the group twice once this session (home) and once next session (away). At the end of the 6 game group stage the top two teams in each group (Nest & Egg) move on to the knockout semifinals. Winner of Group Egg plays runner-up of Group Nest and vice-versa.

Rankings and group placement are going to be determined based on the standings after Week 10. Group Egg will have teams ranked 1, 4, 5 and 8. Group Nest will have 2, 3, 6 and 7

Home Group Matches will be Week 11, 12 & 14 (It makes sense to load up your team with NJRB players week 13 which is just wrong and I think week 15 bleeds into the international break too much).

Away Group Matches will be Weeks 17-19 (16 is a weird week)

Semifinals Week 20. Finals Week 21.

Despite the awesome power of the Commissioner I am open to tweaking this format. Let me know.

In case it helps anyone as we get into crunchtime, here's a link to my FMLS spreadsheets. Kyle McElhinny has been posting the important parts with analysis in his MLSFB Behind the Numbers columns, but sometimes it's useful to have this stuff in search-and-filterable form.

I still recommend trusting JD and Schuyler's rankings and your own research over these projections, especially for double game weeks.

If you didn't get 17 points this week from a $4.0 defender, I can't relate.

Yeah that last minute sub bailed me out this week against JayH JayH after I picked 2 starters who got hurt in the first game of the dgw

If you didn’t last minute sub in a defender who finished a double game week with -1, I can’t relate.

I think I did pretty well this week, I'm doing significantly better this year over last year, so I'm happy!

Same for me. I had one starting midfielder get hurt midweek, and another got a red card this afternoon for 4 points combined. Plus my 2 forwards have 8 points combined (though Zlatan has a game left) but my defender picks were on point.

If we didn't have a money league going there are like three different times this week when I would have rage quit this stupid game. Why do we do this to ourselves.
When we were H2H I was in Berlin about to go to sleep when I checked in to fantasy. The last game of the week as NJRB starting at 1:00 am. With my bench sub of 2 points I was beating you by one 1 point. Even though I "had" the win, I decided to play Lade who was starting and risk getting more points rather than get screwed on the post-week adjustment. I wake up to see Lade also got 2 points and set my team knowing I won that week. When I got back to the States on Thursday I see we tied.

I scored 118 and seem to have dropped 100 or so places in the overall ranking!

We're at the point where basically any starting 11 is possible with >$120mm.

Not so much at 114.5. I fell behind in weeks 1-3 and never caught up, even with some good scores recently. But heavy DG weeks (and weeks with just a few games) make it easier to compete on a smaller budget.

The good (?) news is that budgets are all over the place and don't seem to bear all that much relation to past team performance, which you would think was supposed to be the point of the whole system. The game would be more fun if everybody had the same constraints.

I have a fantasy premier league teamim the top 5% of teams with a budget of $102.1. It's not a fair comparison as you only retail half the profit on a transferred out player, but it's still a stark difference.
