Minnesota - Postmatch

Anyone else find it interesting that at least one CFG bigwig was at this game sitting with Reyna? Were they trying to get a look at Dome's team for themselves? And does that mean that today's at least passable performance might have spared Dome?

Or were they there -- stifle your laughter -- to look at this new stadium?

(ESPN showed them right at kickoff).

I think with both Maxi and Mitrita on the field plus Isi, Taty (tonight's version of Taty) and Hebér we looked the best we've looked all season. Without SJ's seizure moment we win that game.

That said, our defending was rrrreeeeallll bad in the first half courtesy of Rocha. Mata was everywhere and made that one killer tackle inside the box. Sands is a legit prospect.

Incredible how having Maxi back means we suddenly have ball progression in midfield. But he's our Achilles heel. We need more than one game-changing ball progressor. Mitrita should be able to save his "dribble through all the players" skill moves for in and around the box, not have to deploy them just to get the ball up the field.

Probably there for the stadium opening. Hope they get some idea whats it like to play in a brand new home.

They said on the broadcast that he's been around for a over a week and plans to attend 2 more matches before he heads back. Not sure why the opening of a random stadium in Minn. would justify a visit from top CFG brass.

Fingers crossed he's here to deal with our clueless manager.

Absolute horrible refereeing today and certainly made me think there was a suggestion for the home team to not lose the opening of its new stadium.

I think the Taty goal being disallowed was terrible. The referee wouldn’t stop play when the ball was out of bounds for Chanot to put his shoe back on when Minnesota was attacking. There was an advantage that clearly should have been played but Kelly called the foul.

Is this one just on Sean? Maybe, but we showed a lot better in the attacking phase of the game. Defense stills needs work. Still I’m Dome Out.

I’ve been on the dome out side of things for a while. But there was something interesting that happened before the first goal. Maxi lost the ball in midfield. Then he ran away from the ball towards the MNU goal. I think either Ring or Sands won it back and then hit maxi in space to start the sequence to get create the goal. These are the things Dome was talking about when he took over, having player find the spaces they need to be in to convert on turnovers. Maybe the team is starting to get it? Idk. But it stood out in my mind all match.

Don’t be a homer. The replay of Taty playing the ball with his arm was definitive.

The ref let a lot go. If anything, the ref should have carded Tinny for simulation on that fall to the ground that he held his head and then said it wasn’t a blow to the head to keep from going off. Could have also carded Taty early in the game for taking a dive.

It was nice to see the potential this team has, but impossible to know if it was just because we were facing one of the worst defensive teams in the league. And the fact we gave up two goals through play is concerning. Minnesota is not that good.

Feel terrible for Sean -- he's been a rock here for so long, that's a tough one.

Leaving aside the warts and that Dome needs to be left up North, that was the first game this season that I actually thought was kind of a fun watch. I miss having fun watching NYCFC games.

I’m not sure why the hope is showing through from people. Mitrita was barely involved against a tired team. Heber did zilch. Medina was a ghost. They came on when Minnesota was tired and Opara went out of the match and their other CB had a bloody nose/concussion and yet the pricey guys couldn’t take advantage.

Sure we scored three, but so did they and they easily had opportunities for about 4 more that they whiffed on. Our D constantly got sliced and diced on the very direct wing play and against a team better than Minnesota, and there are many, that’s a recipe of disaster.

Very thankful the CFG brass was there and he looked like he wasn’t relaxed for a party - very icy disposition. If he’s sticking around for two more matches, it’s definitely an assessment of Dome and the squad. Ties don’t cut it- he’s here to see wins and coulda woulda shoulda means nothing to a guy in his position. Dome has to deliver wins and he got a tie today. DC playing at home is gonna be a beast next week.

That Castellanos goal was a clear as day hand ball. It's not even close.

We scored 4. They scored 2.

Worst result for us real fans.no loss, and no win to make you happy for a bit.

Best thing is that CFG brass was there. The only time that’s happened before was firing Kreis.

I'm glad to see some signs of life from the players today and I'm hoping that Marwood sees the potential, the lack of results, and puts 2 and 2 together.

Revisionist. Sure an own goal, but to disregard that whatever Minnesota was doing distracted Johnson enough to flubb the ball is just being disingenuous. This wasn’t a freak deflection off a cross, this was Johnson being focused on the Minnesota attacker and not taking care of the ball - he never looked at it as he played it because he was watching the pressure collapsing on him.
