Do you honestly think anybody would quit their job because of another organization’s clusterF???? Seriously. And you answered your own question when you asked about where he said he quit and I replied the same place he said it was due to nycfc, which was nowhere - and I clarified it was nowhere.
Thanks for the kind words, you guys. I'll still be around in some capacity but I needed to make a move in my career as a journalist. Covering NYCFC is a ton of fun, but borderline impossible when it's extra work on top of my day job. Soccer fans are by far the most intelligent and thorough readers around so covering this league or any team with a story a week isn't exactly doing it justice. Part of it was an inner dilemma on me for not being able to provide more, but so it goes.
That said, I'm pretty proud of some of the stories I was able to tell. There are tons more out there and I'm hoping I'll be able to share them.

The idea is right. From what I've read the largest immigrant group in NYC is people from the DR. The only "elite" player from the DR right now is Mariano Díaz who is a bench depth striker for Real Madrid. He's only made 12 appearances this season and I wouldn't be surprised if he drops further down the order when Real spends All The Money this summer.
That said, Transfermarkt values him at $22.8M, which is steep for us, and adding another striker is probably roster mismanagement when we have needs at wingback.
The second largest immigrant group is from China. Maybe we should be scouting the CSL.
I have my reservations about this approach overall, but if you're gonna go down this path I think you also have to take into account existing interest in soccer.
e.g. if some grid iron team were to sign an Australian-Chinese player I don't think it would move me.

Besides both of the apparently best Chinese LBs are 30 years old. They're only worth about $650K, though.
