NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Its pretty rare to keep a player longer than 3-5 seasons anyway. I think 32 is around my preferred cutoff point for a new team centerpiece (Villa's age at signing).

His contract ends 6/2020. So that's a year from now and will he really play that summer or join going into 2021 campaign. Probably the latter which is too far away to negotiate realistically. That's too late and I would be cautious as well. It must be a B.S. rumor. I'd take him now but that can't happen. Napoli had a release clause in his contract that expired last year. They didn't exercise it. I would think he can get 1 millionish a year somewhere next year.

You may be right, but for what it's worth, the article says he may transfer this winter.

The article mentioned that and said he’d join us in the winter window, if he came.

Yeah I know, but I ain't buying it. Napoli should have a good season. Unless they are out of it by the break, no reason for them to let him leave. They aren't gonna get a fee for him.

Guys a game changer though and stays pretty healthy. Pure class.

do we really want sturridge? he hasnt played any real games in so long and sure, he'd be good enough to be a star in MLS, but i'm not sure he's worth signing. Then again, I'd take him over Medina or Mitri without any question.

But, I also don't know if Sturridge will do the backtracking and put in the effort that we are criticizing mitri for.

True but if healthy, unlike Mitri, he'd probably score at a rate of a goal a game.

In terms of wanting players we should also consider what spare parts can be repurposed to good effect. Last night watching LAFC v RBNY I was amazed at how SKC could have left Latif Blessing unprotected. Outside of Vela he was one of the players in the pitch I would have paid serious money for. His engine really allowed him to harass in midfield almost like 2 players, a la Kante. He was a whole line of pressing onto himself, and he just wouldn't let go.

on the other hand, our ghanian was walking around and making incredible square passes and back passes before losing the ball due to a bad touch.

Blessing's on a max of 103k in 2019 too.

Plenty of players other than Ofori who are less efficient usages of cap space than Latif Blessing in this league.
