This is cool

They accidentally launched the site. The prices are not live but the other "benefits" are.
“An historic eSports trophy.”

Guarantee you “historic” wasn’t part of the first draft and somebody demanded the inclusion at the 11th hour with no time to proof read before accidentally going live.

This thing is literally the dumbest fucking thing in the world. They're basically making you do the work of trying to create new fans! Plus they're going to flood the market with free tickets making our tickets worth even less.

I'm doing some quick math. Let's say there are 6,000 STHs left. Each gets 2 cards with 2 tickets each on them. That's 24,000 free tickets to flood the market over 2-5 designated matches. WTF

ETA: A few of you want to give me a few of your Blue Cards so I can drop my season tickets?

They aren’t making you do anything. If it comes up in conversation (and, come on, if you’re on these forums, it just might) now, in addition to saying, Yeah we have a professional soccer team and they play at Yankee Stadium and it’s a lot of fun, you can actually give someone a voucher to see for themselves. Pretty neat! Sure, I’d rather the club charge half as much for tickets and pack the house that way, but since they’re dummies I don’t expect that and I’d still rather go to a game with a fuller stadium than sit staring at an empty second tier all night. More fans means more fun.

Was gonna post something similar. It’s a play to do marketing for the club without them spending any marketing budget - these tix are from the vast number of unsold seats. I’d rather the club lower my ST price/seat rather than do this, because:
A. The seats can’t be used to bring friends with me since they won’t be adjacent, which defeats the purpose of me taking advantage of them.
B. I can’t even give my regular seats away when I can’t go as there are never any takers, so who am I giving these to....
C. I’m not willing to subject any friends that are interested in catching a match to the club’s mailing list when they register for the tix.
D. If people semi-interested in NYCFC haven’t pulled the trigger for tix by now, based on the current prices juxtaposed against the product on the field in the baseball stadium, then two free tix are not going to convince them to take the plunge.
E. Additional free tix to people on the fence just further dilutes the pool of potential secondary market sales. Not that the market is big, but this melts it away like the worlds last glacier in the year 2030.

Really just seems like an absolute desperate last ditch attempt by the club to raise attendance without paying a dime and systematically not understanding the reasons why the attendance continues to fall. Tix gimmicks is a bandage with limited adhesive and falls off with minimal friction.

i kinda like the idea of the blue card. i'm guessing select games means non-derby or lower value ticket games. even so, it's great. I'll be giving them out easily.

i'm more interested about this flexible ticket thing...

Geez, you guys and your "flood the market" bullshit. Lots of clubs do "free ticket" things. Besides, I've met SO many people that don't even know NYCFC exists and are enticed to go to a game, and free tickets would push them over. Yes, they're "making you do the marketing for them" but isn't this also marketing on their part? I don't see why this is a problem. Give free tickets to people who hopefully might come to future games, thereby increasing attendance. That sounds like marketing to me. These aren't meant as "bring a friend along", it's meant as- you're on the subway and says he loves soccer to a friend. You overhear this and mention NYCFC and he goes 'what? that's so cool!' and you give him some free tickets.

The only valid argument I've seen in this thread so far is
Ulrich said:

which is valid enough, but I'm sure this is different because you shouldn't be going to your friend groups and giving these away, but rather to people you meet by happenstance.

Question on blue cards that I’m surprised no one has asked...what’s to stop us to just go on that website, enter the card code and claim the tickets for ourselves? Now I’m not gonna do that, but I can’t see them stopping anyone who wanted to?

Find it highly interesting and irrational by the drive-by posters that belittle other forum members for their personal qualms towards an organization they have a financial transaction with. If you’re happy with your tix and the products/services you’re being rendered then that’s great and glad you feel good about your purchase, but taking passive aggressive shots at others on the basis of non-shared values is well, pretty pathetic.

On a separate note, and accountants would have to verify the accuracy of it, but this tix scheme seems like a lot of bottom line gymnastics for the club. Having 10k tix sold bring them that X-profit, and selling 20k tix at half the cost brings them the same X-profit, but selling 10k tix and giving away 10k tix yields them the double occupancy with the full tix-income but also gives them 10k tix of business deductions to claim which reduces their tax burden. Again, not my profession so the accounts will know more about how donated goods/services hit the balance sheet.
