I would imagine they were resting him for the game against us.

I did more digging, and it turns out Altidore missed the game last week with a quad strain. He was probably still recovering yesterday. It's ridiculous not to list him as at least questionable but that's always unreliable. I would consider him questionable for us as well, and now think there's nothing fishy going on except the usual gamesmanship with injury status lists.

we should list Heber as questionable to strike fear in the hearts of the TFC defense.

Speaking of SJ, so is he back with NYCFC now and can play Wednesday, or with Steffen going back to Fortuna, does SJ go “back” to the national team camp so the nat’l team can have three keepers?

Another way to put it, was ‘releasing’ him for the NYCFC game (SJ was there I saw him in the pregame arrivals) just so he could hang with his team or is he actually back?

According to the article linked below, Johnson is one of 5 players released early from camp after last night's game. He will be available on Wednesday.

NYCFC DEPTH CHART VS. TORONTO
strikethru = out; italics = questionable

Striker: Heber, Castellanos
Wing: Tajouri-Shradi, Mackay-Steven
Wing/CAM: Moralez, Mitriţă, Medina
CM: Ring, Parks, Ofori, Torres, Rocha, Haak
RB: Tinnerholm, Miller, Scally
LB: Matarrita, Sweat
CB: Chanot, Callens, Sands, Ibeagha
GK: Johnson, Stuver, Barraza

Leaving Maxi in for now.

man we are really hurtin in the CB department...

we are really gonna have to control the midfield cause our makeshift defense is just not very good. the revs were making us look foolish when they had their chances near our box. hope whoever ends up playing that back line steps up their game 200% cause we 3 points vs TFC would be fantastic. not only to maintain the top spot, but also REVENGE for probably our worst game all season (granted it was before we got comfortable in formations and before heber and before taty found his mojo etc..)

Sweat can play LB, and will maybe have to

Could you go back to three at the back given that we really only have one true CB (Seb) who would play in the middle. Maybe then play both Ring and Ofori in the middle to provide defensive support, push Parks higher and hope that you can get a lower scoring win.

A rested Jozy against Seb and Eric Miller is frightening.

Is Héber around the club?
We need that dudes good magical vibrations.
I think he’s the special sauce.
Can’t expect to play against 10 again Wednesday.
Gonna need to access the intangibles.
That’s why I love this team. Not polished, glossy and Jeff Koonesque like LAFC but textured and wildly dynamic like a Pollock or de Kooning.

Here's the controversial card chart. I have Maxi with 4 cards and playing based on his sub appearance versus Houston. Come at me MLS!

Also, Chanot earned himself a reduction, so only Sweat is in danger and can earn a reaction against Toronto. Isi also earned a reduction vs NE, as he'd been sitting on 4 clean sheets the duration of his injury.

Thanks for tracking this Adam. Do we have anything a bit more concrete from the league or the team on this?

I just visited the League's Disciplinary Summary page on the website and it hasn't been updated since 8/14/19.

It also has Kim Kee-hee of Seattle suspended against a match vs. Seattle. It's amateur hour at MLS.

I personally feel this is absolutely bullshit and MLS is just making up the rules as they go along (which they do anyway). Nowhere does it say that fined players for simulation have their good behavior reduction incentive reset.

EDIT: It does say supplement discipline, which vaguely could be understood as a fine. But a fine for anything? Just another layer to the complexity.

" A player will automatically reduce his yellow card accumulation total by one yellow card each time he appears in five consecutive matches without receiving a yellow card, red card or supplemental discipline in such matches. "
