The long-standing model for charging to season tickets was to pay in full, up front, with no financing and no refunds. Then some teams, including NYCFC, offered better terms: a 12-month financing plan with no extra fees and no interest.

In response, people have repeatedly complained every year since they added this option that:
  • They don’t make it clear that you can’t get a refund for payments once you make them
    • even though you never could under the 1-payment model either and entertainment tickets are never refundable at will;
  • The payments start too early
    • though payment starts only in time to be fully paid up 1-2 months before the season ends instead of before the season starts under the old model;
  • You can’t sell or trade-in some tickets more than a few weeks out (because they haven’t been paid for yet)
    • though adjusting for that would require that payments start even earlier;
And now
  • The team builds a price list based on the monthly payment instead of the average per ticket cost
    • because they’re hiding a lower price by publishing a higher one.
You know, a few months ago I heard an unverified but plausible rumor that NYCFC had considered offering free ice cream at games, but they decided not to because of the response to the 12 month ticket payment option.

A great job of not addressing any of the substantive points.

Tell me what single other thing -- just one thing -- that you buy that has a price that is quoted this way.

Maybe some "as seen on TV" product?

guys guys... this isn't stadium discussion...

also, the pricing is what it is. who are we to argue among ourselves what is the "right" way of doing it? they did it. they aren't gonna change it regardless of what we say here. if you don't like it as a consumer, you are within your rights to simply cancel your membership and tell them why. or write/call/text/whatever a rep to voice your displeasure.

don't really see the sense of arguing the merits of their pricing strategy shown in the stadium seating map. besides, as I said, and maybe i'm wrong, but I thought this thread was to discuss our future SSS rumors/news?

I regards to no extra fees. They do charge a $25 “shipping” charge for electronic tickets.

This is a sign of how little trust fans have with the front office right now -- because you're right, this is not a big deal. If there was a healthy relationship between the front office and fans, there wouldn't be any issue.

If you guys can complain about ticket prices and payment options, then I can complain about you getting me all excited to see a couple new pages of stadium talk, only to find that you don't know how to use the forums.

This is where we complain about the stadium. Go elsewhere to complain about the tickets.

Moderators should remove all this ticket posting and move it to another area.

You two have been around long enough to know that all threads lead to the stadium thread.

Not to hijack your work but I like to see YoY % change. I flipped the 1st row/ 2nd+ because I think the 1st row thing is an aberration and that the better apples to apples feels like comparing 2nd row+ next to 2019. Then I did a LTD % change for those that started in 2015 and still exist. Which got me thinking, the club really should consider chopping up the sections more if they wanted to ruin such an analysis (or at least make it harder) since thats basically what they did for some old original seats and im too lazy to "fix"

What a slice of society. Pitchside B last received a bid break. Champions and Delta have stayed near inflation. The middle class and below is getting drilled again.

I get the big jump in year 2 when we had one of the league’s highest attendance figures, 3 international super stars, and prospects of a stadium announcement in the near future. Then the relatively stagnant pricing thereafter when STHs and attendance were decreasing, the club brought in unknown players, and no stadium announcements ever came. So what gives for this huge price increase in year 6 when the same problems from years 2-5 still exist?

That can only mean one thing:
They're really expecting the stadium announcement to come, which will return hype and season ticket holders.

i think what's amazing here is that they are breaking ground now and are scheduled to open in 2021 - i would assume for the start of the 2021 season, which would make it a year and a half of construction, start to finish.

perhaps cause it is austin that makes it possible. i'm thinking after announcement, it'll take them a year to break ground, and then 3 years to complete our stadium. that's a long time in comparison but of course, there are a ton more hoops to jump through building a big project in NYC.

Go to the first 100 pages of this thread. We looked at how long all the stadiums in NYC took to build from when the ground broke. We’re looking at 2 years.

No. What’s happening is there were a ton of downgrades by STHs. So they raised the price of the lowest tiers to discourage that. They are about to find out a lot of STHs are just going to drop off now instead.
