Premier League 2019/20

It's already looking like a two horse race and despite Liverpool's early lead I still think Citeh are the team to beat. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manu , Spurs none of them have impressed so far. Only undefeated outside of the top 2 is Leicester which is two ties and win so good for them but not anything that will threaten at the top.
Not gonna argue, as LFC and MCFC look dominating, but ManU is only two failed PK’s away from being 3-0-0 or 2-0-1. They had the opportunity and didn’t seize it which is more them losing the pts than the other team winning them. My concern is if Rashford and Pogba continue to struggle with the spot kick, ManU will make a winter push to sign Maxi as the designated PK taker.....

I think Spurs will look a hell of a lot more solid once Son, Dele, Ndombele, Lol Celso and Eriksen are all consistently on the pitch.

Spurs should be clearly the third best team and push the top two a bit but Something's rotten in Denmark just now. Sorry couldn't help it. Besides just Eriksen, Poch has seemingly suggested something larger is wrong behind the scenes. If they can sort that out their a very good team but in a straight table race with no play offs it could be far too late by the time they do.

Insane early season hot take. Could Leicester compete not just for top 6 but top 4? Not impressed by Man U or Chelsea so far and even Arsenal/Spurs don't look like world beaters...

Arsenal I think will end top 3.
I just mentioned on my group chat with friends how I think Chelsea, Man U, and Tottenham don't look at all like they have even Europa League places sealed.

wow..

just wow. Man City's defense is horrendous. Stones and Otamendi are so bad. Pep needs to go out and buy some new CB's. i bet they wish they still had Kompany.

As a huge Man City fan that was awful. As a huge soccer fan that was awesome! That match will keep Norwich fans happy for the next 20 years regardless of their circumstances.

In fairness Pukki is a legit striker that is gonna push for the league’s golden boot this year. And Norwich play a really fun style of game.

Is it too early to hand Liverpool the title? Can't stand them and don't think their close to City on pure talent but hard to see them dropping 5 more points than City the form their in. Only semi joking.

Also is Pullisic already in trouble at Chelski? 5-2 win over Wolves (who I'm still considering decent based on last year) I am at least half seriously worried for him.

Spurs finally looked good but might be too late already to be a factor

I think it's too early. City have defensive troubles. 2 of the goals against them were 1) mistake by ederson's positioning and 2) completely idiotic giveaway from otamendi. City have defensive troubles and they need to get that sorted out. They are missing a CB pair with good chemistry and communication. Otamendi has always been a liability imho. And Stones just doesn't live up to his potential. I won't be surprised of fernandinho plays more starting next week and they go out next transfer window and find themselves a CB. Liverpool are riding high at the moment, but the injury bug might get them too. City lost 4 times last year in the league and still won the title. This is only their first lost.

Pulisic seems to be falling out of favor. Mount is doing well and pretty much has his starting spot locked in. Pulisic needs to beat out Willian. Though he was somewhat effective in his last couple games, he needs to start scoring or creating a lot more in order to lock in his spot. Think he needs some time to get used to the EPL speed and physical play, but he better get adapted quickly before Lampard forgets him completely.

Lampard seems to be building his team around Chelsea’s academy products. Their three starters have scored 11 goals this season which is the most in the last decade or more, and only a few weeks into the season. Unfortunately leaves Pulisic on the outside since he’s neither and academy player nor a longtime trusted Chelsea player.

What he has going for him is Chelsea has the transfer ban, so they’re limited with further reinforcements, but still, he probably pricked the wrong team to join. If only Jose had been sacked earlier, Pulisic would have gone to ManU where OGS is playing the youth no matter where they developed. It’d be sick to see Pulisic on one side and Daniel James on the other. If only....

Would posit it’s panic button time for Pulisic and his agent. Lampard is clearly playing the Chelsea academy grads and longtime squad players - he’s made it known that’s his intent with the youth. Pulisic should for w the issue now so he has a landing spot in the winter. His only chance at playing time at Chelsea was an international manager that is blind to jingoistic squad selection. He’s a seasoned international and tons better than young Mount and the others. But Lampard is definitely out to answer he call of the three lions, so not a lot of option for Pulisic.

If not for the two forced subs in the first half, I bet we would have seen Pulisic on for Kovacic in the second half. I read the like-for-like swap of Abraham with Batshuayi as being locked into his system by injuries in addition to trying to ride the wave Chelsea caught after Kanté's incredible solo goal.

Not sure with Pulisic time will tell not looking good though.

Also not looking good , competitive balance, really hate seeing the EPL morph into old school LA Liga but Spurs, Chelski, Arsenal and Man U all looking like nothing special. Everton and especially Wolves disappointing. Outside of City and Liverpool the So called rest of the big 6 look more likely to be battling with Leicester and Bouremouth and Westham for the rest of the champions league spots than challenging for trophies.

FWIW Lampard says otherwise. Of course, he's been known to lie.

He’s a stubborn idiot. The mere fact the question keeps coming up shows that the collective sees he’s making a supreme error in judgement, but by continuing to double down he now has picked his hill to die on.

Something is off with Spurs. And really, it goes back to around February, if you set aside their UCL run. (Which was glorious, don't get me wrong.) But Poch needs to get it sorted or else there won't be CL next year. The league is already out of reach.

Fourth game in a row that Pulisic doesn’t get on the field. Pretty amazing that Lampard has the audacity to say Pulisic needs time to adjust to the EPL and Chelsea considering his academy crushes, Abraham and Mount, spent the last few seasons both in Championship ball while Pulisic was cutting his teeth in Germany and the Champions League.

Sitting on the bench doesn’t help with adjustment, so this is simply a jingoistic play by Lampard.
