Premier League 2019/20

Not sure if this has been reported yet or if it's new info, but according to WSJ:

"Sports on Peacock will include Olympics coverage, which NBCUniversal has the rights to into the next decade, Premier League soccer and golf’s Ryder Cup. The NFL, which NBCUniversal has rights for, won’t be on Peacock."

Peacock will be $4.99 with ads, or $9.99 without ads. The $4.99 version is going to be bundled with Comcast and Cox subscribers for "free" and they will also have a basic free version with limited content, probably not premier league.

No other info such as how many matches available, what tiers, live/on demand.

Comcast’s Peacock Aims to Undercut Streaming Rivals https://www.wsj.com/articles/comcas...-99-a-month-with-ads-9-99-without-11579208437

From reading that article, I don't have the warm and fizzles about this service catching on outside of the bundled customers.

What does NBC Sports Gold cost now? This is $5/month or $60/year for everything, and NBC Sports Gold was $65/year at the start of the season. Plus presumably will include other sports, where you have to pay separately for each sport on NBC Gold now. So this seems like it would actually become a decent deal if you like NBC's stuff. Pretty similar to ESPN+, which is a bargain for all you get.

Davo15 Davo15 i don’t watch every game, but I watch a fair few. Is Ederson just a complete idiot all of the time? Does anyone tell him he should try to keep balls out of the goal first and foremost?

Yeah, I'm trying to figure all of this out now. An article I read recently says "Peacock will stream 140 Premier League matches not shown on television for free to fans", which is hard to parse. Is that "will stream, for free, 140 matches not shown on television" (meaning the NBC Sports Gold Premier League Pass is effectively bundled with Peacock) or "will stream 140 matches [otherwise] not shown for free on television"?

I actually don't watch close to every game either. I work 8.30- 6 on Saturdays and honestly I had a lot more passion for City when they were shit but hip now than that it's the other way around.

Interesting title for tonight’s episode. I didn’t know if I should put it here or tag you in the Netflix thread.

So Villa upset Leicester to reach the league cup final and likely be sacrificial lambs for Citeh. There was a pitch invasion and clearly it meant a lot to the players and coach, don't try to tell them the domestic cups don't matter. It really ticks me off when Klopp and Pep and people who only see things though the lens of the 1 percent want the competitions to be scrapped. They still mean a lot to most teams and fan bases .

I like the solution that Klopp came up with which is to play the U-23s. I also understand their points regarding player fatigue and injuries.

If they don't want the fixture congestion, just don't be good. Or, as he's done, prioritize certain competitions/cups over others. Play the kids. Just because the top 2-3 teams are spread across 5 different competitions doesn't mean the smaller clubs that only have one or two need to suffer.

It makes the season interesting to see how the best managers decide to split their squad, rest players, etc.

I mean, I think he’s doing it as a protest because he genuinely thinks the FA and PL are abusing players. He raised hell over the Christmas period, too, and that was about what other teams had. But Liverpool has suffered it before, as well.

It is abusive what they do. Everyone will have noticed that there isn’t a single manager that’s not on the same page.

Klopp and Pep and their teams have a great on-field rivalry, and they are probably over the last 3 years combining to give us some of the all time best teams in the world. But they share more than not in philosophy and perspective, I think.

Ignore the stupid twitter armies, look at what each team and their players have said about each other over the last few years. There is no doubt an immense respect on both sides. I haven’t seen any Liverpool player say anything about last year other than “we weren’t quite good enough”. They lost one game! I know I’m way off of my point on congestion, but whatever.

The point is, we are watching halcyon days as PL fans. The football is better than ever. If we want it to stay that way, the competitions must respect players.

I am 100% behind fucking off the FA bellends. Well done, Klopp.

Don’t agree at all there are teams and fan bases beyond just city and Liverpool or even the big 6 . The problem is the champions league and corporate garbage not the traditional competitions like FA and league cup .

Heh congrats . Great win for them hate VAR. that really disrupted the flow of the match when city where awarded a pk 4 minutes after the fact .

Really hope epl revise their implementation of var for next season cause it's been a real shit show this year.

So you think it’s cool that the FA doesn’t respect the break the PL built in this year? That’s 100% on them.

The League Cup is a shit competition. Yet they wouldn’t schedule LFC in a time that LFC could play their first team.

Two shit competitions that think they matter.lulz.

No one gives a shit about them any more. Haven’t mattered since United fucked it off a long time ago.

The pitch invasion by Aston Villa Fans and reaction of their manager and played says the idea “ no one “ cares about those competitions anymore is bullshit. Maybe to the fans of the elitist one percenter big six who don’t care about anything outside of their little champions league cash cow bubble but to the other 100 teams in the country ?

I mean, if they don’t respect scheduling parameters, it’s a farce. Not sure how you get around that.

“Let’s make a trophy where we Schedule games at times that make it impossible for the best teams to compete. That will be super important to the world at large.”

If it’s about a consolation trophy, then, yeah, who cares?
