About 2/3 months ago before they announced Deila as coach there was a lot of anguish on these forums about prepping for the season and how waiting to sign our coach was going to be detrimental to our club. Alot of people also mentioned that it meant Deila wouldnt have much time to sign new players either and that was the main concern. I'm curious on what everyone's opinions are now, after one game into the CCL.

I can't imagine one game against an inferior opponent has changed anyone's opinions on this.

Thank you.

This opponent is a horrible gauge for how the team is shaping up - their tactical awareness & defending was at best MLS 1.0. If we routinely drop 5goals on MLS competition, then we can look back and say the club took absorbed the transition quickly, but I suspect our league results will look different than this 5-3 run&gun result.

I suspect that even if we kept Dome, any significant roster moves were unlikely anyway. Between the CBA and our ability to retain pretty much every key player from our strong last season, the delay didn't really impact our roster construction.

Now did it impact his ability to prepare and develop his vision for the team? Pretty sure we won't be able to truly answer this until at least 10 or more regular season matches.

the translator has arrived....lmao....i really am curious to see how this dude does. While he is someone that goes out of comfort zone though he never ever struck me as a coach in any capacity.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe now Ronny can better convey his tactics. Though you'd think professionals can understand tactics just by looking at a whiteboard.. *shrug*

Every team in every major league in every country in the world has players that don't speak the native tongue of the head coach. I'm sure our team handles it just as well as everyone else does. I can't imagine it's a major factor.

Doesn't seem like van Bronckhorst is going to be coaching Guangzhou, indefinitely

In a statement, the China Football Association said their move to postpone the "2020 season national football competitions at all levels" was taken to help with the "prevention and control of the pneumonia epidemic of the new coronavirus infection, and to protect the health of the majority of fans, media, players, coaches, game officials, clubs and district staff".

(BBC: China's Super League postponed because of coronavirus, 1/30/2020)
If only I knew
