2020 Schedule Thread

Worth noting that of our 7 games so far, 6 have been against teams in the top half of the standings, including 4 games against the top 3 in the East. Our next 4 games are all against teams in the bottom half.

Serious question:
We are hitting a nice run of form. Do we have a chance in the reverse leg against Tigres whenever concacaf decides to play it?

Head of CONCACAF said on Wednesday night that they're trying to do a bubble for all the CCL teams still in it to finish the tournament. I think that's got to work in our favor some, since I think the only places being considered are in the US.

Even if it was put in mexico, I'm just wondering whether we have the will-power and strength team-wise to overcome the 0-1 defeat

i think it's been long enough that the defeat is out of our heads and the latest streak of wins (and hopefully continued streak of wins) will help us with the confidence. plus tigres is not doing so great after their restart

That seems crazy difficult with scheduling. Would we even want to enter that bubble with our deficit?

I could see RBA hosting eight teams and four matches per weekend, the way they do for international friendly tournaments.

Missed this when it came out, but Montreal appears headed to RBA for Phase Two. So that's four teams, counting Toronto.

During a recent Philadelphia Union broadcast, it was reported the Impact will call Red Bull Arena home. The venue, located in Harrison, N.J., is home to the New York Red Bulls and is also expected to host Toronto during the next phase.

How is this going to work? Two teams scheduled at "home" for the weekends, with the four teams rotating through the midweek slots? All four could play at RBA with doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday, obviously, but that seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Yankee Stadium may have better grass for soccer than RBA this season...

new schedule just released

9/19 @ Revs
9/23 vs TFC
9/26 vs FC Cinci

according to the announcement here: https://www.mlssoccer.com/2020/tickets/2020-ticket-info

that's all they have scheduled thus far and will announce more as time goes on.

playoff format is also announced.

eastern 7-10 teams will do a wild card playoff to get the final 8 to go up against the 8 in the west.

Another Away match v. the REVS ?

Have they announced how many games total will be played? Need to treat each game like it’s the last phase.

seems so due to scheduling conflict with RBA i guess.

didn't see that in either of the links i posted. i am thinking that we're going to go into the playoffs with no interconference matches due to travel complications, but that's just a guess.

considering the final is on dec. 12 and assuming we have an average of 5 days rest between each roudn of playoffs, that gives us about 7.5 (~52 days) weeks of games from the start of october. we have been playing 2 or 3 games every 10 days so that gives us about 10-15 games remaining + the 4 we have yet to play.

it would be really strange if we play all remaining games within the same conference. but with everything happening right now from covid to wild fires, scheduling inter conference matches will be difficult unless they allow all teams to fly chartered flights to reduce risk and scheduling problems.

They said there were going to be a total of 18 games back in markets. So this is now 9 games scheduled, then another 9 games are yet to be scheduled. Decision Day is Nov. 8.

I also think they said it was going to be intra-conference only this season because they want to limit travel -- it sounds like road teams have been traveling day-of to limit hotel stays, etc.

What would make you think, regardless of location, that our team could beat them? Is it our defensive midfielder playing LW or our Striker who suddenly can’t kick a ball?
