Away - October 14 - Orlando (Postgame)

So.... Callens bleeds? TAKE HIM OFF QUICK. And then he stays off for like 5 minutes.
Nani bleeds? Gets treatment on the field. wtf?

How did we not win that? This keeps us within scraping distance of the top 5, but... that really should have been ours.
Medina - good
Gudi - okay
Ring - notice how he actually plays well when he *gasp* plays in position?
Defence - Shaky, but fine.
Taty - :/

gudi was barely serviceable.

medina was not good. he was slow and uninspiring.

taty needs service and people to work off with. he was much better with isi on the field with him.

parks and mata had great games. if i had to give MotM to one, it'd be Parks for the goal, but it'd be close.

Overall, team pulled it together at a tough, humid game against a surging orlando side with a squad who is not well rested and injury ravaged roster. The boys put in a fight and we were a bit robbed to not come away with 3 points, but i'm ok with 1.

I think the difference here between a draw and a win was Ronny's poor lineup choice and subs timing. No doubt he will be asked about it during the post game press conf and he will make up some BS to justify it. #ronnyOut

I appreciated the effort. We were reasonably fun to watch. And the team is decimated.
If this were not the 12th time in 18 games that we scored 0 or 1 goal I’d be quite really pleased.

since it was parks that scored, it should technically feel like 4 goals considering how many times he misses wide open goals.

2nd half was pretty good. Better than I expected after 1st half. Mata, Tinny, Parks, SeanJohn, Taty were good. Callens, Chanot, Ring were fine. Gudi was up and down. Medina, GMS were bad. Isi was good when he came on. There were some other subs in the 90+ minute, whatever, too late. Deila was bad.

I'll take the point and props to the guys who fought to the end and took over the match--- too bad we couldn't score the winner.

Parks was terrific.
Mata was effective and played hard.
Ring looked comfortable.
Gudi was still in the locker room for the first 20 minutes.
Taty is a shell of himself, he is a step slower, is getting muscled off the ball, and can’t finish.
GMS is probably a great player in training drills.
ATC, the team fought hard and deserved at least the point. Kudos overall.

Similarly, I saw what probably endears Medina to Deila. Late in the game he was running past completely spent defenders with ease. He puts that effort in and can do it all game.
He doesn’t contribute much besides running hard, but I’m sure it comes off well in practice.

Yeah, that's why I think"he was good" - he was putting in a shift and looked like he actually had energy throughout - something a bunch of the other players didn't, because we looked absolutely gassed (yet still hit 18 shots on orlando...).

But "good" doesn't mean "great". If he keeps up this type of effort, he could get to where we thought he would be 2 years ago...

No Maxi, no Heber, no Mitrita, no Sands, and they played that sort of effort. Starting to feel like Ronny's system is taking shape here. I'm happy with that sort of effort for the rest of the season -- we may not win this year (and with all the injuries, hard to see how we do win anything), but if we play that way for the rest of our games, I'll be happy with the team and with Ronny.

In the second half, Orlando was giving him space, and he was able to receive the ball, turn, and have options in front of him.

Well now, Deila's clearly had enough with interviews... Every Game his interviews devolve more and more lmao.

...That being said, he changed players because they are shit... yet the same shit players play every game. dafuq?

The roster is the roster, and with all the injuries our bench just isn't that deep at the moment. We had one forward on the bench tonight, and only because Matarrita started up front.

So you think maybe he put the forward on the bench in case of an injury to have a player to come off the bench?

Also would like to point out that the parity in the eastern conference is way lower than in the western conference - if we were in the west (removing the 'we have to play the teams on the west' and looking purely at points), we'd be vying for first place. (then again, columbus is on a losing streak so idk)

I'm not sure it would be in case of an injury per se, but relatedly just some rotation with guys who can play in those spots.

We're in the middle of a very congested slate of games and have a very depleted bench, so he brings in two guys as starters that were on the bench last match in GMS and Mata.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Isi starting on Sunday to continue to rotate a bit. The problem then becomes where else can you rotate guys and keep some quality out there? Maybe Ibeagha for one of the CBs? Maybe Cacha for Ring or Parks? (Though Parks was incredible last night and Ring was very solid as well playing back at his natural position, and it sounds like he's going to be staying at that position). Maybe Scally starts over Tinny?

Dome was the same. He didn’t like interviewing postmatch. I don’t think coaches like being questioned on minute details. They’d rather softball questions that they can pretend to be annoyed with. When a reported constantly comes at them about decisions that led to losses/ties their pride gets the best of them.
Also wanted to add that I think in Europe the local reporters likely don’t come after coaches. Football is big money and they want to keep their credentials. So they’re probably not used to media giving them a hard time.

Dome's post game interviews weren't amazing but they were much better than Ronny's. It helps that the reporters never hammered the same questions at Dome like they do with Ronny. With Dome, he was usually asked about a player who performed extra well and of course the usual "what was the difference this game?". With Ronny, there's always a lot of questions about his lineup and substitution choices. I watch almost all of them and without fail, there is at least a question or two on those topics. I'm sure he takes offense to it and is too silly to realize maybe his lineups don't make sense.

i still think Ronny doesn't know how to utilize our players to their best potential, which is the job of a head coach and for someone who came here with a resume that said he enjoys developing youth players, not being able to get the best players in their best positions is a huge fail.

i am still of the opinion that all the positives we see from the squad are from the players digging deep and fighting despite the difficulties ronny has put before them to overcome on top of having to play against quality opponents. but that's just my opinion. Season will end soon and we are not bottom of the table, but i am still in the #ronnyOut camp.
