I choose to look ahead and note that should NYCFC advance, it will have a standard 7 days off between the Orlando game and the next round, while the opponent will have but 4 days of rest.

YES is carrying the game in English. Looks like we'll see Joe and Ian at least one more time...

First of all Saturday at noon? Are they trying to not get anyone to watch?

also, how can you get this game on streaming services? Hulu dropped YES, I’m not sure what other streaming services have it. TUDN and UniMas are also not widely available. So basically a game that literally makes it hard for you to watch it.

if you cannot access YES via normal basic cable means (whether its your account or someone else's who is willing to share with you their login information), then your only other option is via ESPN+ with a VPN. There are at least a few of us here who use this route (myself included) and use ExpressVPN. This service is a little pricey, but there is a monthly option so you can cancel as soon as the season is over and re-up when the season restarts. Or just get the full year plan and keep your internet traffic encrypted for security reasons.

The game should be streaming on Twitter, but it'll be the Unimas stream.

I understand the frustration about scheduling, but covid dramatically changed the course of the season. Had it gone according to plan, we would have all been watching MLS Cup this past weekend under a revised format that no longer put playoffs and the Cup after the international break that occurs every year.

As best I can tell from looking at the available times for upcoming matches, after the Eastern conference play-in games on 11/20, there are matches on 11/21 at 12 and 3pm for Eastern conference teams, and the following day the Western conference matches start. The playoff schedule is crammed and a mess, but so is this year.

I don't follow other major US sports closely so I don't know how their post-seasons were impacted, but I am a cyclist and follow professional road racing a bit and offer that as a comparison. This year during the lockdown in Europe, all world tour cycling was cancelled. Then in August there was a frenetic resumption of racing crammed into August through November, in which you had races overlapping in a way that they never would. The three biggest bike races in the world -- normally happening months apart on the calendar -- this year happened in August (Tour de France) with the the other two (Giro and Vuelta) actually overlapping one another in October and precluding riders from racing in both. Smaller one day races and stage races also overlapped.

It's 2020. It is what it is

I just think it's stupid for MLS to stick a playoff sports game - not a series game but a one-off game - in the market of the US with by far the biggest jewish population (and there are quite a lot of sabbath-observing jews who support this team...!) on a Saturday afternoon. Was Saturday night really not possible?

I remember as a Jets season ticket holder getting so pissed off when they would schedule 1 of 8 home games on Rosh or Yom. Then I realized something that made it easier to understand: they don't give a shit.

Local and demographic concerns really are way down the list of issues they consider when scheduling, and sometimes demographic priorities conflict. They're juggling 3 network groups who have contracted for different day and time slots and have a pre-set hierarchy of who chooses games in what order. The concerns of those networks control and here, the only overriding rule was putting the Play In contestants on Tuesday.
I'm guessing Univision chose Orlando-New York because of large Spanish language populations, which unfortunately conflicts with the needs of observant Jews but that's how it plays out sometimes. Univision is probably locked in to Saturday because Fox and ESPN spend all day and night Saturday on college football. I expect Univision has other programming commitments for Saturday night. It sucks but there is logic to it.

538 gives NYCFC the best chance of any visiting team at 48% for games through the Round of 16. Click over to the Standings Tab and NYC has dropped to the five spot on the list and just a 7% chance of winning MLS Cup. On November 2 NYC was third at 10% and I think somewhere in between was at least still that high. I think 538 was projecting we sneak into 4th place or higher in the East and not doing that because the teams ahead did not stumble lowered the chances.

hope he comes back without any covid issues.

i'm ok relying on ibby. he's been putting in solid shifts.

just noting ... callens did not start for peru and did not come on as a sub either.

2 other MLS players did start and a 3rd came off the bench. we have the worst MLS peruvian :p

If he doesn't play in this window, it's a complete joke that Peru took him for games they wouldn't use him in when it's going to mean that we lose him for a playoff game. I'm not mad at NYCFC or at Callens, I'm mad at the Peruvian national team. They have enough MLS players, they should know better.

I don't get this. The Peru National Team should look to call up the most talented players they have, right? Sure, he may not play, but what if Peru were to have suffered injuries to 1-2 defenders or one of them got a red card or something? Now they would have to use another Peruvian player they bring instead of Callens (who also "wouldn't be used") that is of lesser quality (in their eyes)?

we wont have callens and they wont have gallese due to quarantine....even steven
