Not here to talk about Covid or vaccines but I want to help out with some info. Don’t panic, don’t hoard, don’t go crazy but do yourself a favor and get some toilet paper ASAP. It’s starting again. Panic buying. Before it hits twitter and Facebook and people go nuts just head to the store IF YOU NEED TO. If you don’t need it and have plenty on hand don’t worry about it. But it may be a good idea to do your Thanksgiving shopping early this year.
Grocery retailers are pushed to their limits on holidays and trucks are crowding the roads getting needed product to the warehouses. Our back rooms are already crowded with pallet drops of Thanksgiving product. IF this toilet paper thing happens again going into one of the busiest holiday weeks of the year it won’t be easy getting it as our delivery are already near doubled this holiday week with typical expected increase of business.
Someone gave me a hard time last time for spreading fear or something along those lines and I was spot on with everything i said. This is what I do for a living. We’ve run out of TP and Paper towels the last 2 days. Play it safe, go to a store as early as you can and get what you NEED if you need it. We started limiting quantities again. Like I said last time, retailers do not warehouse product. Our warehouses are like our shelves, product comes in and goes out and the days on hand are near zero. It’s because of that why we have stock issues on product when there is an increase in demand.

I believe it was me who gave you a hard time a few months ago, and I'll happily do it again - this is a wildly irresponsible thing to be posting.

Panic buying and irrational demand for things like toilet paper doesn't magically appear out of nowhere - it grows and grows thanks to posts like this. If you want to encourage people to take part in that and then congratulate yourself for being "spot on" afterwards then go ahead, but don't pretend like you're doing people a service.

Unlike last time, when everything else shut down and trucking capacity was unlimited for grocery stores, we are unlikely to see the same shutdown, especially with the holidays coming up. Grocery stores won't have as much flexibility to secure extra trucking capacity to get those extra runs from producers to their networks and finally their stores.

Much has been said of issues with the postal service and misleading reasons for delays that started to spike in June/July. We have struggled to secure all the extra ground transportation needed to move all the extra parcels and loss of traditional capacity on airlines. It takes a lot longer to send parcels to Florida by truck than by air. Then when the truck driver doesn't show up because they found a high spot bid for someone else, parcels and mail sit.

Hopefully grocers don't face the same logjam. Thankfully I'm a semi-vegan and have tons of black beans, rice, corn and tomatoes stocked up! I should be able to survive on that for a bit, and I got pasta for the kids. Too bad my garden is done for the year.

This is no different than your neighbor that works at Wegmans telling you to go buy a turkey tomorrow because they expect to run out in two days. We have maybe 20 active members here. I’m not sending some mass mail out.
I’m not creating hysteria, I’ve only had to live with it at home and work for the last 9 months.
Why are you out of this?
I give them the exact reason and am told it’s the same bullshit excuse every time. Yes... yes it is. As if we get off on running out of product and not making sales.
I can assure you me making a post on here is not the reason the country ran out of toilet paper. But it’s happening again and I’ll happily inform family and friends to get one if they need it. We’re limiting quantities a lot earlier now so it shouldn’t be as bad this time. i can’t change reality.

we’re down to 20? Damn. We really need to sign Messi or something.

moreover, i also encourage everyone to buy a gun to protect your toilet paper. Toilet paper is a god given right. I even believe our constitution was written on it, that’s why it rolls a bit in the photos. Be prepared to die to defend it!! And don’t think about substituting tissues or something if you run out, that’s a quick path the hell, guaranteed.

You also had the very clear caveat: "IF YOU NEED TO." You didn't say to go out and hoard. Thank you for inside insight!
