General MLS Discussion

i cant see it anymore comments either, but i think i noticed this maybe a couple of weeks ago. Maybe they took it down when the whole CBA situation started?
It was around CBA time, but they always could disable comments on certain articles. They could have just blocked comments on the CBA articles. There also was an issue the last couple of months when comments existed that someone created a bot that downvoted every comment. Literally every comment and reply had a +/- rating of -12 or -13 or worse. I wonder if maybe they are trying to figure out a way to stop that and just took it all down while they do some rebuilding.

lol someone actually spent time to make a bot to downvote comments on the MLS site? i mean most of the commentary on MLS news tends to happen elsewhere though ( reddit/ twitter/ here).

To note, I checked if any clubs in French went with Clube de Foot and I can't find any.

This is just bizarre.
Their own supporters are protesting right now too. Any club rebrand needs to involve your supporters. Chicago did the same thing and it backfired on them as well.

Is there any CF team that isn't using the Spanish Club de Fútbol? That's what I immediately think of when I see a team with CF

Ok so check it out. I'm the co-host of a podcast and we recently had on THE Rob Stone. We talked about many things, but of course we focused on the US Men's National team, and some MLS stuff too. We picked his brain about the current roster, rising expectations, Berhalter compared to Arena and Jurgen, and much more. It's a great interview, please check it out!

Obviously a blow to Montreal, but an even bigger one to MLS. Until the global travel situation is resolved, teams are going to struggle keeping hold of big name international talent.

wow.. charlotte not off to a good start.. signing players without a coach and now this..? makes our FO look competent. also, sucks they aren't taking this opportunity to build a SSS instead of renovating BoA.

I really hate it when writers attack something that is bad and instead of pointing out the reality of how it is bad, they unfairly embellish. That article and the tweet it relies on for info are really playing unfairly. I get it. PSLs suck. But you cannot add a one-time PSL cost to the annual season ticket cost and say the tickets cost that amount, because then the following year they will be a lot less. The cheapest non-SG ticket is not $980, it's $630 plus a one-time PSL. That's roughly $37 per game plus the PSL. That's not cheap, even without the PSL. Go ahead and bash them for it. But you can't amortize 100% of the PSL cost in the first year and say the tickets cost the total amount because that's misleading and makes people think $980 is the base going forward. In fact the next year those tickets will probably cost "only" about $680 or so every year afterwards. Which again ain't cheap for the cheapest non-SG tix. But don't pretend it's $980 and up from there.

i mean the owner also owns the panthers so it makes sense he wants his teams to play in the same place. i think i also read the renovations are publicly funded ( or at least partially) so the deal was something that both teams will play there in order for the mayor to give funds.

however the whole PSL extra fee is something that was alluded that many MLS teams wanted to do in SSS but i dont think it has happened. It is a thing in NFL though, even thought everyone hates it. that is something that will suck if more will start doing.

i get playing in the same stadium due to same owner, but i still think it's a missed opportunity to build a nice SSS. sightlines aren't bad like they are at YS, but the closeness of the seats to the field in SSS make the experience that much more fun, imho. is that enough of a reason? not sure. i guess they can always go ahead and build one in the future.

Imagine they do this and then charge a second PSL to build the SSS? That would be off the charts terrible.

Apparently Charlotte FC has specifically noted that " PSLs only apply to Bank of America Stadium and are not transferable to a new venue." There are expectations ownership will build a new stadium for both the Panthers and soccer team in 7-10 years and no current pSL rights will transfer.
