2021 Roster Discussion

Couldn't remember who our last #5 was, and found this great archive of who's worn which number for NYCFC since the beginning. Turns out #5 may well be the most cursed number in the history of professional sports. Good luck, Ibeagha.

This is *truly* disrespecting the only NYCFC #5 that matters. See? You've even made him frown!

Every player who's worn 20 has been hilarious in their own way, cult status for sure. The guys who've worn 5 have just been plain bad - crazy for what should be a prestigious number! Number 2 isn't much better either.

Kristian Dyer, who is pretty legit, says the deal for Rojas is done. He says it's a TAM signing, which would seem to be a pretty nice piece of business.

The 23-year old Rojas, a creative player who can slot-in any three of the attacking midfield roles, is currently on the books at Ecuadorean powerhouse Emelec. A source close to the situation tells FanSided’s MLS Multiplex that the transfer fee for the player is $2.8 million.

His salary, the source said, is expected to make him a signing that uses Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).

The expected salary for Rojas, the source said, is in the neighborhood of $500,000 for this year. That number jumps to nearly $1 million by 2023.

I thought the coaching staff was supposed to be quite high on Barraza. Who do we think is the primary backup?

i really hope they are not going by the thrashing by tigres. kids debut against a top regional team and our side was depleted and just sucked that night.

i'm confident that barraza is our solid #2. we have always had 3 keepers on the roster (caldwell was our 3rd for awhile) but our #1 and #2 were almost always pretty set.

With Stuver gone, it's opened up the #2 spot behind Johnson. Seems like we brought in someone who can possibly rival Barraza at #2 at best, and at worst function as a 3rd string keeper (aka no looks ever aside from a few behind the scenes videos). Works for me.
