On November 11, 2020, NYCFC fans received an email regarding remaining balance for the 2021 season. In that email, the club announced that payments for the 2022 season will begin on May 15th.

Opening up a new thread to discuss 2022 ONLY. For 2021, please see the 2020 & 2021 thread.

I find it very worrying that the club is beginning payments for 2022 season in May 2021. If MLS plans to start the season around April 2021 in order to increase the probability of fans in stadiums, it would be one month into the 2021 season to renew for 2022. I normally pay in full, but paying nearly a year in advance is worrisome. It makes me wonder how cash strapped CFG is regarding their continued investment in the club given COVID, stadium project, etc.

This club isn't supposed to be making a profit right now. We've seen they aren't spending on DPs like they did in the past (at least in terms of salary). But what makes it that they need the money so soon?

is it possible it was a league initiative to try and get teams to charge as early as possible? still, i dont even know if ill even go for 2021 not even thinking of 2022.

Thanks for catching that part about 2022 and posting it. I just saw the note regarding the $25 shipping and moved on.

There was a push to get people to pay in full for 2021 by offering benefits. I would usually pay in monthly installments but switched to paying in full because of the benefits and that it was a lower payment due to what we had already paid.

now it looks like we are defaulted into paying the same way for 2022 - any way we can change this? Seems like a sneaky way to all of sudden charge people for all of next year one month into the season.

I emailed my rep a while ago about it and she said we'd be given the chance to switch back prior to being charged.

Just got an email about 2022 renewal update.

- payments for 2022 will not start on may 15th as previously scheduled.
- opt out of 2022 starting may 15th through jun 14th.
- COMING SOON: info about 2020 rollover benefits at the may 15th home match (not sure what happens if you decide not to go?)
- COMING SOON: Additional details about 2022 payment plan options, opt-out window
- COMING SOON: on-sale ticket info for the 2 may home games.

If the opt out periods runs until June 14th, I guess payments resume June 15. 1 month doesn't feel like enough time.

I can’t even remember what the rollover benefits even are.

based on that email - that is a reasonable assumption. however, if that were the case, why wouldn't they just say so instead of saying there will be more details later? guess we will see.

EDIT: couldn't find a list of the bonus incentives but included things like $100 gc to spend at the team store, $100 for concessions, and a couple other things...

New information was just emailed out.

key points (from email):
- Pricing will remain flat from 2021 to 2022.

- We are pausing payments on May 15th -- and will begin 2022 payments on June 15th.

- We will have a settle-up period during the month of December and will not be charging anyone on December 15th while we do so. Click here for more information on this.

- As a reminder, if you wish to opt-out of your 2022 membership – you may do so during our renewal and 30-day opt-out window between May 15th – June 14th without penalty. If you wish to opt-out, please click here to learn more.

- Our goal is always to play all home matches at Yankee Stadium, and our second choice is an alternate location within the five boroughs. If we play games outside the five boroughs in the future, those games will be completely optional for City Members just like they were this season.

So if we again have half our home games at RB those become non optional? Use it or lose it or maybe trade in credits (which personally I wouldn’t have use for 9 games worth of)

No. if we have games at RBA (or anywhere outside of NYC) in the future, they will be OPTIONAL.

While obviously not surprising, I'm very glad they didn't mess this up again and at least are upfront about possibility of us playing games at RBA in the future and that they will be optional. I'm not happy about that, but I'm ok knowing I do not have to pay nor do I have to go and can keep that $ in my bank for other games I'd rather go to.

we’ll be getting a mail on the 2021 incentives tomorrow my rep tells me

Ahh, I just sent them an email asking about this again, since I hadn't seen anything since the 4/28 email that said:

"Shortly, we’ll be in touch with the following:
  • How to receive your 2020 Member rollover benefits at the May 15th home match."

An example:

2021 Season tickets (10 home games) cost $10, $1/game. You added all the Yankee Stadium games (6). Therefore you have $4 in your account. 2022 season tickets are again $10. You pay $6 to get back to the $10 amount for a full season. But how may games are at Yankee Stadium in 2022?

The settle up period reflects the 2021 season. Remaining payments for 2022 are on 1/15/2022. RBA games are optional, but you're paying for the entire 2022 season anyhow. So we may be rolling and rolling and rolling credits year after year after year if we continue to play MLS games at RBA.

If we continue playing at RBA, which is likely if Citi field is no longer a viable option, then rolling over money with an option for refund is the best solution. Much better than tokens.
