Long Island Supporters

I know this is extremely last minute but could someone give me a lift from Lynbrook? Send me a pm if you can.

Edit: OK I guess that was a little bit hopeless.

I would take the train so you can have a couple cocktails. Jump on the LIRR to Penn then the subway to YS. Driving is a pain in the ass because A) you can't drink B) parking... traffic... fuck that.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - especially for the home opener and the game against the Red Bulls - might drive when I take my mom to the game and the same for my nephew - I am excite!

Would anybody be willing to meet me at Penn Station on Sunday? I thought I saw something about Long Island supporters meeting there but I can't find the thread.

There is a Long Island Meet Up planned for the first game through a Facebook Event set-up by Kyle. The link is below. Long Island Supporters are scheduled to meet at the McDonald's in front of Penn Station at 2:00pm. This will allow people to take the different LIRR Lines (and all the way from Suffolk or closer to NYC in Nassau). Once everyone meets up, the plan is to take the subway to Yankee Stadium as a group. Since we are still getting things organized on LI, I would continue to check-in on the FB Event. Also, we are continuing to update our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/thirdrailli and on Twitter @ThirdRailLI. Finally, we have a closed FB Group as well under 'Third Rail: Long Island' (where supporters talk about NYCFC events, meet-ups, viewings, etc.). Please know that everything (including viewings and meet-ups) are open to all LI Supporters (you do not have to be a member of a SG). The link for the FB Event Meet Up is: https://www.facebook.com/events/800325153381670/

From Patchogue will probably be checking out the Village Idiot if I can slip out for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.

Zero Sports Coverage of New York City FC on New York News Networks :(

Frustration: Zero Sports Coverage of New York City FC on News 12 - Long Island Division. Their was nothing, not even a mention on Mondays news broadcast of the sold out crowd at Yankee Stadium for the NYCFC’s Historic Home Opener on Sunday night. So after being frustrated of 20 years of no MLS coverage I called Kevin Maher who happens to be the Sports Director and weeknight sports anchor at News 12 Long Island, and he said “MLS and New York Soccer Teams were NOT popular enough to cover or even show highlights”. I had a 20 minute conversation with him to specifically ask him “to just please show New York Soccer Teams some LOVE”. And I told him that News 12 Long Island / Suffolk County Division and the other major New York news networks are completely tone deaf and bias towards the sport of Soccer in general. The conversation got heated but still cordial, he was aggressively quizzing me on New York Soccer History, and well I kind of put him in his place a bit with having more knowledge about the worlds most popular sport in general. I’m no sports writer, nor do I care to be. I just care about advancing New York Soccer!

Guys, I can’t be the only frustrated New York Soccer fan to call and e-mail these news New York networks, we all need to charm in, and the New York City FC Organization needs to do their part as well in contacting them. I said after 20 years of NO coverage of the New York MetroStars & New York Red Bulls and now the return of the New York Cosmos, give me a brake and he was like “well they play in New Jersey”, and I was like are you kidding me, you report on the New York Giants and New York Jets that all played in the same dam stadium. It has reach a tipping point here in New York, we as a collective fan base need to demand more attention towards the sport we love and highlight coverage of the matches of whatever New York Soccer Team you root for.

Please feel free to email or call News 12 - Long Island's Kevin Maher and tell him you would like to see New York City FC highlights.

Miami Nights in Island Park is now an official NYCFC Pub Partner. The bar joins Lily Flanagan's in Babylon, the Village Idiot in Patchogue, and Your Mother's House in Garden City Park as the 4th partner on Long Island.

Our FB Group now has a link at www.facebook.com/groups/thirdrailli. There are about 75 members (becoming the main place to discuss NYCFC Support on Long Island). We also have a FB Page with around 325 likes at www.facebook.com/thirdrailli. On Twitter, our group is @ThirdRailLI (about 350 followers). We are slowly building on LI for the long haul and hope that everyone here on the forums joins us at events and meet-ups (open to all supporters).

This past week, the first Third Rail: Long Island meeting took place. We have many TR members but our group is open to all NYCFC Supporters on LI. Everyone is invited to our events, viewing parties, meet-ups, meetings, etc.

A "TR:LI Away Match Schedule" in relation to our LI Home Bar and Nassau Bar/Suffolk Bar Division will be coming out soon. Eventually, this information will be included in the "TR:LI Year-Long Schedule" (which will include additional events happening throughout an entire year).

Look forward to seeing everyone at the Stadium tomorrow!

Garden City here. Do people actually show up to Your Mother's House for away games?

Would anybody on LI be interested in meeting in Mineola for a match? Some decent places in walking distance of the lirr.

Edit: fat fingers. Grammar.

What's up guys. Are there any plans for a meet up (in the Nassau area) for the Vancouver game?
