They heard it from someone close to the situation.
I really don’t have club contacts. They basically told us year one they don’t want to be affiliated.
The one time I was given access to the club was when they were down here for a preseason match. I asked Viera for a pic after the match and one of the clubs reps got between us, pushed me away (physically pushed me away) then got in my face and said ‘you’re either a fan or you’re medier’ (he was English, that’s how it sounded).
I honestly wouldn’t even answer an email if I got one.
That’s class, right there. Hicks and Gillett level shit.

So I was the one who contacted Dan. I won seats in the luxury box with the city employees via Cityzens. I wasn’t sure if they’d swear me to secrecy or threaten my season tickets after the game so I wanted to wait until after to say anything. That didn’t happen so here we are. I got there early 11:30am with my wife. We were the first ones in the box. Shortly after we showed up a couple guys with their kids showed up and were clearly VIP since everyone was showing them lots of attention. At some point before the game I spoke to one of the reps who said the box would be full of staff and some people from Heineken but later after doing some research online while at the bar found out the guys they were courting was DZ (edited to take out his full name) the Vice President of marketing for a large company. (side note: seemed like a super nice guy with a great kid. The kids all really enjoyed themselves and were very funny. His kid know a lot about the club and players.) After the match Z actually went up and spoke to the Heineken person and complimented him on their 0-0 ad (that’s their non alcoholic beer) which is why I knew he wasn’t actually with Heineken. Z was there with a friend and their two sons. The reps were all over him got him and his kid customized jerseys and scarfs etc. Anyway, at the beginning when it was just my wife, Z, a rep, his friend and myself standing around the rep was telling Z they secured a site “close to here” and said they haven’t made it public yet. He said it will be 27k with the option of 35k in the future. He gave more details but I just happened to be standing next to them in an empty room wasn’t exactly directly involved in the conversation.

I don’t know Kiera but this is what I heard first person today before the game. I got excited and messaged Dan right away. I don’t have contacts within NYCFC just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

EDIT: after thinking about this a little more he definitely said “not far from here.” Instead of “close to here” sorry.

(side note: seemed like a super nice guy with a great kid. The kids all really enjoyed themselves and were very funny. His kid know a lot about the club and players.) But what are their thoughts on universal income?

The field has been far worse this year than it's ever been before. I've never it where it was this bad that entire sheets are coming up when a player tries to juke. It's legitimately a safety hazard now. Completely unacceptable from the stadium grounds crew to have the field in such a dangerous condition.

It was so bad that I wouldn't have been shocked if Montreal had them stop the game and didn't want to play for fear of injury.

It was unplayable in that area, so I agree that stopping the game should absolutely be an option. It's unacceptable for the field to be in that condition, and I would certainly hope something can be done to answer why it's so much worse this year than it was last year.

I don’t know what thread to put this in so I’ll just put this in here. Do you want actual change in NYCFC but there’s no pressure on the team because they have all control on what gets reported? Message Manchester City reporters. These are guys the club can’t just take away their media passes as they are actual journalists, not bloggers (sorry NYCFC Nation).

YIKES

NYCFC players also recognized the poor condition of the infield sod, but chose not to use it as an excuse for their inability to score a goal.

“The pitch was terrible, but it is same for both teams,” fullback Anton Tinnerholm said. “So I’m not gonna blame the pitch today. Because it’s not the pitch’s fault we didn’t score goals. The pitch was [crap], but for everyone it was the same.”

NYCFC captain Alex Ring slipped on the surface in the first half, resulting in an ankle that was still swollen in the locker room after the game.

“I can complain about the pitch, but it happens after 30 minutes and you play the whole game with a sore ankle,” Ring said. “It’s not the best.”

Thank you for sharing SayWhat44 SayWhat44

That sounds eerily similar to conversations others on here have had when they’re trying to get something out of you. Eerily similar.

BTW the individual who said it today wasn’t just a rep for NYCFC he works with all of CFG covering America and has a title of someone you’d want doing work on the project before it was announced publicly

I’m not going to share publicly what others on here have shared in private messages but the “26k/27k expandable to 35k stadium in our sights” story has been shared to a few different posters here in private moments. I think I heard the first time early in the season of 2017.

Not saying that what you’re talking about couldn’t be true. I just don’t excited anymore because it’s obvious I’ve been lied to on more than one occasion. And it’s similar sounding bullshit.

Two more cents on this. Because I want to clarify something I said above that probably came off shitty. So I’m sorry.

On multiple occasions I’ve heard different executives at this club (at least one of whom who isn’t with the club anymore) feed someone important bullshit. I’ve heard of them feed CFG reps bullshit and I’ve personally heard them feed a sponsor or political type bullshit.

Land development in NYC is a fucking bitch. It is possible that things were said in good faith that didn't pan out, for reasons ranging from engineering issues to political/economic issues.

Completely understand and can’t attest to the validity of what I heard but the circumstances around it and since I was actually there and not reading it on the forum makes me believe it.

A couple more notes from the visit were again centered around the man of the day Z. The rep definitely said the CEO was going to come down and spend time with him. I didn’t hear him specifically say Brad Sims I probably just didn’t hear that part but I did hear him mention his time spent with the Cavs. I vaguely remember a little pow wow going on in the kitchen area I don’t directly remember seeing Sims. I wasn’t familiar with what he looked like and wasn’t looking for him. But he could have been at the center of that get together.

Also at halftime another gentleman and his son joined Z’s group for the remainder of the game. I am almost certain it was Jon Patricof but since I’ve never met him before and he didn’t introduce himself to me yesterday I can’t say 100% I’ll just say 96.7%.

This is really good stuff and much appreciated. One small point. I don’t know that I would be naming the guest they were trying to impress. Not really important to the story, and wouldn’t want to rub someone the wrong way if they don’t want to be discussed on message boards.
