Home - June 6 - Cincinnati

Cincinnati is the worst team in the league (even Colorado has passed them now). 3 points is an absolute must.

So they're missing Mattocks, Waston, Powell, Cruz. Garza and Saief are injured and questionable. So aside from Adi, it's like a USL level team. Great test in preparation for the U.S. Open Cup, but I'm still not optimistic about tomorrow.

It'd be nice to see us play through the middle in this one, since we're going to be a little weak on the left side. That said, I hope Dome forces Tinny towards the endline instead of having him get inside to create some of that space. Where are we going to get our runs from on the left?

Either way, only 6 on the bench for this one.

The bench will include one forward, four midfielders, no fullbacks, and no centerbacks.

At least we can always throw Sands back, drop Ring deeper, etc. in case of emergency. We've got a lot of flexibility back there; we're really pretty lucky.

Anyone know if this match will be either available on replay or recordable? I have to miss because of work...

It's airing on YES at 11 PM ET.

It's airing on YES following Yankees coverage.

So set the DVR to record at 11pm and extend the recording by 90 minutes, just to be safe.

It's also airing Friday at noon, so you can set the DVR for that recording if you miss Thursday night's.

Though, considering the Yankees are playing the Blue Jays, a weather delay won't be a problem as Rogers Center has a roof. The only worry would be extra innings.

Wonder if MLB will go to ties during the regular season to combat the time of games and travel delays and weakening bullpens? Only play extra innings in the postseason.

Extra innings or a long game. I suggested 60-90 minutes to be safe, odds are the delay would be no longer than 30 minutes.

Parks has to get minutes here right?

I wonder if he even gets a start. Seems to be either him or Torres to fill in for Ofori. Unless he goes 4-3-3 and puts Sands in that spot.

Maybe something like:

Mitrita-Heber-Castellanos
------Maxi-----
----Sands-Ring
Rocha-Ibeagha-Callens-Tinnerholm

Or he stays 3-4-3 and it looks like:

Maxi-Heber-Castellanos
Rocha-Parks-Ring-Tinnerholm
Ibeagha-Sands-Chanot

I'm assuming Castellanos starts after Dome strongly insinuated that on Saturday, so figure either Maxi or Mitrita on the bench with Tajouri-Shradi to give us some firepower if needed.

I figure you meant Chanot instead of Callens, since the latter got called up for international duty.

Dome said in his preview that the 3-4-3 failed because the center backs didn't step forward far enough to draw Columbus out of their deep block, so we might see it again.

I don't know how much I believe that, but we looked so much better against the deep block with an extra man in midfield that I'm not sure it should matter. Especially with either Rocha or Isi as our best options at LWB. Rocha is not blessed with pace but seems safe on the ball - sounds like solid inside FB material to me.

I'd like to see:

Mitri Héber Shradi
Maxi Ring Parks
Rocha Sands Chanot Tinny

With Maxi and Parks plying the channels and Rocha moving inside to support Ring on the left and Tinny roaming the right hand side.

Go with a super offensive lineup and crush them.

They’re going to sit back, pack it in and counter attack. Play with 7 guys in the offensive third and put them under siege. Trust that Sands and Chanot and Ibeagha can control Adi.

I’d like to see Isi wide left with limited defensive responsibilities. I’d like to see Parks in the middle where he can help control possession and pick a pass.
