U.S. Open Cup 2019

So is our pool to

You might as well make it a Sunday due to Gold Cup break. Why does US Soccer hate its own tournament?
Most likely due to the USL teams and their scheduling. Obviously the USL is a lesser league, but rescheduling for their teams may too big of an ask ($ for travel?). It sucks, but in order to have a tournament like this it's an unfortunate item to be wary of.

I could certainly believe in the idea that the draw was rigged for the East. Cards are barely shuffled (three shuffles), and the guy is watching the shuffle and goes directly for the card on the most left. Then most right. Then left.

Why wasn't this observed by an independent auditing firm?

Also, Orlando and D.C. are able to sell more tickets since they're playing at home compared to New England (who is going to Gillette Stadium on a weekday) and NYCFC who play at a 2,100 venue. Economics drives corruption!

It wouldn't surprise me if we, and New England, said no thanks to hosting.

We have one of the more difficult sweet 16 matchups. But if we can get past DCU, I'd be thrilled to play either Orlando or NE on July 10th as a quarterfinal matchup. (FYI, we play home to Portland 7/7 and "away" to NJ on 7/14, so no real travel concerns that week and we should have everyone back back by then (except maybe Ofori), including a healthy Sands. Best travel scenario is YS 7/7, Gillette 7/10, RBA 7/14)

The West is by far the hardest bracket and Atlanta was gifted the Mideast.

A couple of USOC matches tonight to pregame for the USMNT match.

Going to be pulling hard for Columbus at home, as Atlanta is the only team on the Eastern side of the bracket that scares me. But of course the fix is in, as the crew are missing a ton of players for international duty in Steffen (not really on team anyway) trapp, zardes & Mensah. If Columbus pulls out the upset, DCU is the toughest challenge between NYCFC and the final.

Winner of Columbus-Atlanta get winner of St. Louis-Cincinnati. So yes, hard to see Atlanta not making the semifinals if they win tonight. Question is whether the benefit of having them distracted by a Cup run during the regular season is worth the potential of playing them down the line.

I’d only agree with your last part if we had a match against them right before or after their quarterfinal matchup. (Which I feel they can win with their subs, so what’s the difference?)

And ATL goes up 2-0 in 15 minutes. SMH. If we get that far I only hope we don’t have to travel to Atlanta to play.

CLB are down 2-3 right now, but they're getting quite a lot of chances. I can see them tying it and this match going to ET.

Match is suspended due to a weather delay in the 75'. The match can be ruled official due to 45' being played based on U.S. Open Cup rules.

Game back up, CLB still looking the better of the two. I hope they score one.
