Hi, I'm a Cardiff City season ticket holder (for the many, many that won't know who we are - we were in the English Premier League last season but have just been relegated to the tier below. Where we belong.)

I'm in New York in late July and really want to come watch a NYCFC game but I'm a bit clueless about how best to sort out tickets. Is it best to just turn up and buy one on the day or should I get one in advance? I'm there for the Sporting Kansas City match on the 26th. Is there anything else I should know/you guys recommend etc?

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks

I’d recommend buying in advance on Stubhub (resale, better prices) or Ticketmaster. Supporter’s section is GA if you want to stand in the rowdy portion. Otherwise, best seats are second level in the corners — 205 through 209 or around 229 or 230. Welcome!

Welcome D Delmi !

I'd also give a shout for 234 for a nice in-between. It's rowdy up the back of that section but you still get to sit down and it's a good tactical view (end of the field), right next to the supporters section.

I'd also recommend sections 205-214 for pretty decent views from behind the goal opposite the supporters. Atmosphere is better in the 228-230 range, but seats are right on top of the endline from 205-211 and pretty good.

Bad views in the stadium go from 216-227 -- don't sit in those areas, you'll be too far away from the field. Anything else in the 200 level (2nd deck) is pretty much fine.

I'd recommend buying tickets early for a better selection. Day-of-game is obviously limited by availability, though I doubt a Friday game would be terribly close to a sellout.

Food at the Stadium is stupidly overpriced and generally not very good, so be forewarned about that. Either eat before the game or after. Team store is also overpriced in the stadium, I assume that's all normal across the pond, as well.

They let you bring bottled water into the stadium, but only if it's factory-sealed and unopened. Find a vendor outside the stadium selling them for $1 or $2, don't pay $6 inside the stadium. A late-August evening is likely to be hot and humid.

Also, unlike in England much of the Stadium is open to the elements. If you don't want to risk getting wet the cover in the 200 section starts around row 15 or so. The view is better from up close, but if it rains there is no protection. Cover in the 100 section (field level) is only for the back couple rows.

Hope you enjoy it!

I'll take minor exception to this as a season ticket holder in section 225 which is the same point of view the main broadcast cameras have (I sit right behind them). Directly on the midfield line, though the pitch slants away from you a bit, and a decent height to see all of the action.

Bad views is a little strong, it's just that you're a little far away from the action. I was in 223 once and while I was far away, the view was fine. That said, if I'm recommending sections to a first-timer, I'm not recommending that section. I think they would have a better experience in the corners or behind the goal line.

Thanks so much everybody, looks like I've got a second team!
message us as the game gets closer - since it's a Friday night game, we can help you decide on what to do during the day, getting to the stadium, where to eat/drink, navigating the stadium, or whatever you need - we love hosting guests!

Would also be great to meet old fans at the stadium tbh

Schedule is kind of horrible for me this season. I need Sunday games since I work till 6 on Saturday's and I'm coming from Connecticut! In fact there seem to be way too many (home and away) Saturday afternoon starts that I can't even watch live on telly these days!

Welcome Delmi. I do think you'll most people on here have a pretty good knowledge of the English game and know who Cardiff is. Welsh the whole kit color controversy etc.

Yeah that was a funny old time, it's only in the last couple of years the relationship between the club and a lot of the fans has recovered really. The owner showed a total lack of understanding about traditions in football but he learnt from it so you've got to forgive and move on
