2019 Season Ticket Thread

oh! did it say that? i could have sworn the "perk" read that they'd give a flat 5% rebate. If that's the case then i rescind my complaint about stubhub charging 15%, cause the way that reads I'm only getting charged 5% regardless. If anything I want stubhub to keep increasing the fee. Hopefully it spurs the team to use TM again.
I honestly haven't looked back at the previous communications of what we were to receive the credit on to validate it. I just quoted the email I received yesterday verbatim.

The website says we'll get a credit for anything above 5% but seems to have been written in 2018 so who knows what they'll do for 2019 sales.

"It is free to list tickets for sale at StubHub. When your tickets sell, StubHub will collect their standard seller fee but NYCFC will give City Members a credit of any seller fees paid in excess of 5% on the sale of their NYCFC tickets on StubHub*. At the end of the season, City Members will be given the option to apply the credit to the renewal of their 2019 City Membership or other select ticket packages.

*Valid for NYCFC home matches only. Email used on your Stubhub account must match the email on your NYCFC ticket account. Account must be in good standing. Credit is not redeemable for cash."

I’m coming around to the view of several people on the previous pages -

Is there any benefit at all to being a Founding Member anymore? I struggle to list any besides priority in the queue for seats in a stadium in another 4 years or so (one can hope!), which will probably be half empty anyway.

Can anyone talk me off the ledge? Why do I keep paying for this?

(Maybe I should put this in the “vent” thread.)

Agree it’s useful, and an improvement over previous years. Traded in a bunch of tix and dumped in some more cash to upgrade to Pitchside 002 for the Derby. Don’t get all the value back from the tix, but better than nothing.

The revised trade-in program is working very well for me this year. With the club's odd schedule and my children getting older with more claims on their time, I have already identified 4 games this season it makes sense to trade in. So I just did that and took the credits and upgraded the game on my birthday to Pitchside B, for just over $100 out of pocket for 2 tickets (I also traded in my tickets for that game as part of the transaction). Without the flexibility of the revised program I would have gotten much less value for the tickets on the days I traded in.
Obviously your cost for trading up will vary depending on your regular ticket cost (I'm in Delta), but everyone who has to trade in a few games should be able to upgrade to something better for a reasonable OOP cost for a nice treat, or have one game where you host a party of 6 instead of your usual 2 (or whatever).

One tip: while checking the terms I noted that all tokens expire at the end of the year. Nothing rolls over even if you renew. It even says that if you have tokens left 7 days before the last home game they will use them to issue you extra tickets (assuming you have enough) for the last game even if you don't ask for them. Otherwise they are just lost.

I'm couldn't find if this was posted on another subheader, but did anyone check out the promo the team is running for potential 2020 season ticket holder. This was the promo the team ran in the first 45 mins. Nycfc.com/join. It will be interesting to see if the team is expecting a mass Exodus this renewal season.

So a new season ticket holder gets 4 free matches this year? That’s equal to 1/4 of the season. I’ve been a STH from day 1, but this shit is really making me second guess everything.

Also remembering they gave us a free match this season. Which made those tickets worthless because it just flooded the market with people trying to dump them. So if they give out tickets the same way for 4 more matches, they will again dilute the value of everyone’s tickets for those matches we already paid full price for.

Not sure I have at least 5 more years of overspending till a new stadium is built when I can just buy tickets for dirt cheap when I feel like it.

^but but... if you're not a STH then you won't get all the amazing benefits!

only benefit of being a STH for me is getting the same seat every time. Albeit, most games aren't even close to being sold out so getting a good seat isn't really that difficult either. But I like having the same seat guaranteed for me. These promos they run just show how desperate they are to get new STHs. When other clubs have a wait list longer than our STH list, that's pretty sad.

The club just doesn't know how to treat STHs and value them as the foundation of the club. Hope things improve once we get a stadium. I'll excuse their half-assery if they've been too focused on getting a stadium to worry about anything else.

I moved to SS this year because they are the only tickets I don’t lose my shirt on. Had the same seats for 4 years and people would be sitting next to me paying half of what I paid. It made no sense. My old seats Sec 103/row 1 are available for $31 on Stubhub right now for the SKC match. I was paying over $45 for them last renewal. This club has some major pricing issues that don't match with reality. I’m getting tired of paying for their fantasy.

I hear you. I think about that when I see people who I know aren't STHs next to me at games.

It seems that every year they raise the price of a season ticket, but at the same time offer more games for free, or offer more promotional ticket sales to the public, or some other "promotion" that undercut the prices we were asked to pay for a season ticket. It's definitely not a way to show how much you value your STHs and if they do not do more to show that they value a STH over the casual attendee, they will continue to lose them year over year. It would be a fantastic question for the city hall Q&A this week for anybody who's going. I bet they'd just spew some marketing jargon and publicist approved reply though.

As a former STH who now just buys games every week from Ticketmaster- I will say that I've found no value difference between STH and non. In fact, I've found that buying the cheapest ticket in the stadium and then just walking to another section is WAY more cost-effective, since they don't usually have people checking those section.

...And for all the STH's with the "I gotta keep my place in line" mentality, idk why you're expecting that when a new stadium is announced there will be lines out the DOORS for season tickets.

I don't expect lines out the door. I expect it to be difficult to get front row in the section I want. As one of the people in the first 300 in line, I think I have a shot at that. That's why I keep my season tix.

In all fairness, they lowered the season ticket prices on a significant portion of the stadium last year.

You're worried about so many new season ticket holders signing up that their free 2019 tickets will flood the market?

They lowered and they revamped the pricing of sections now that they have a better idea of which are the best of the worst in a baseball stadium.

I've found that with the expanded ticket trade in, I've been able to get value for every game so far. I haven't had to put anything up for sale, and I've traded in and used the credits to take more people to games from time to time. It helps that I went down from 3 tickets to 2, but the fact that I have been able to make it work with so many weeknight games has been a pleasant surprise.

So for all the discussion on not being a big benefit of being a STH and a "founding member", it seems the team is now offering to restore the founding member benefit including pricing for former STHs that have since canceled their tickets.

What about the founding member brick?
