Over and over. It didn't get better. It's absolutely awful. Truly, the worst footy chant I've ever heard that often. It sounds like a drunk 4-year old made it up on the spot.

Hahahahah. Oh man. From what I heard this was the popular chant at the TR meeting.

as the evening progressed i tried to start vulgar to more vulgar chants to no avail ... my "you're playing like shit, you're playing like shit, your name is KAKA, you're playing like shit" chant got absolutely no love, neither did the "we're not extra fancy, NO we don't dive like Nancys, we don't give a fuck, cause we're NYC" (to the tune of we're not gonna take it) ... at least people joined the knock knack paddy wack one.

Surprisingly this wasn't done at Banter in Williamsburg at all. Vamos Mi Celeste seemed to be the default chant, which I liked.

It'll take time for chants to become absorbed by the majority. Right now the simpler a chant is the more likely people will pick up on it.
Give it time my friend.

I don't mind the idea behind the chant, but whoever wrote it has no sense of rhythm. The third line is nothing like the the original song, and every time I've heard it sung it sounds like they drunkenly forgot what they were saying in the middle of the line and then tried to half-heartedly jam too much in at the end.

Here's my super-legit MS Paint musical analysis:

(and yes, there is an extra beat in that last measure)

You guys are crazy if you think we're singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" on Day 1. It's a great chant for what we have. All it is, is shot after shot at the only people who are trying. There was a solid and diverse crowd at Ryans Daughter... Did you start a chant to get everyone going?

I did. Just "New York - City".

Someone not having come up with a "better" chant is not a reasonable rebuttal to chant being shit.

Nah, it's not that bad rhythmically (it's a pretty bland song all in all, though). You're missing that there is an anacrusis in the NYC chant that isn't there in the knick-knack song - the first two syllables come before the first bar. In other words, the music is actually like this:

(I know that I could have made that picture easier to view, but I'm too lazy to fix it, sorry).

From the Bronx - The top most part of NYC proper...
All the way down to the Battery - Battery Park - The bottom most part of NYC proper...

If you don't like it, you don't like it. But it makes sense.
