Pirlo, DAUGHTER REVEALS: "GOING TO NEW YORK"
Comes another rumor about the future of Andrea Pirlo. In Turin yesterday was staged on the last day of school. In greeting teammates, Angela, the second child of the Juventus midfielder, has unveiled the future of the father said he will follow in the United States with his new girlfriend, Valentina Baldini.

When I read this I can't help but feel troubled at the way our society treats celebrities and those associated with them. I can only think of a few ways a journalist came across this information and none of them seem particularly good.

1. Journalists are asking his daughter's friends if she has said anything about her dad's future. Not only is this exploiting children who probably aren't old enough to realize they shouldn't say anything, but it could make her not trust he friends because she says something and it ends up in the papers or on the news.

2. Parents/relatives/family friends of her friends/teammates/classmates heard it from their child and told the press to make a few bucks. If this is true, it's sad that parents are exploiting their children's relationship with the child of a celebrity to make money.

3. Teachers/staff/coaches at the school told the press. This is close to the same as parents, except worse in my eyes because it would be people in an authority position doing the exploiting. Kids are supposed to be able to trust/ talk with people in any of these positions and them talking to the press about a child's personal matters would violate that trust.

4. The journalist/ someone from the positions above made it up. Obviously journalists make things up all the time, especially relating to soccer transfer rumors, but using the child as a "source" for a made-up article would be even worse considering it might make Pirlo or other celebrities weary of talking with their children about important life decisions like moving to a different country for work.

Sorry if this seems like too much of a rant or if I missed a possible situation that makes this story and how it was acquired by the press better, but I can help feeling happy sometimes that I'm just another random person. Media exploiting my friends/loved ones for any story would be exhausting and would make me find it hard to trust people.

I think season ticket reups will have everything to do with the secondary market. My guess is that most people buy season tickets with the intention of selling enough of them to make up their cost or make profit. I may be wildly wrong about that, I hope some STHs will weigh in on that. If they make enough this season to make it worth doing next year, they will, if they end up losing more than they were comfortable they won't. I don;t know which way the trend is blowing this year, but NYCFC.com is selling tickets at rates considerably lower than the secondary market, which makes me think that sellign NYC tix on stubhub is not lucrative.

Tom, I have season tickets in 014A as you know -- I've attended every home game so far but sold my tickets once and bought tickets for that game on stubhub on the other side of the stadium in front of the supporters section to see how the atmosphere is over there (it's great btw). When I sold my tickets (on the Ticketmaster exchange) I don't think I made any money -- maybe just a buck or two per ticket. The tickets I bought on stubhub were at a premium but that might be just to cover the stubhub fees. The seller couldn't have made anything more than a couple of dollars. I think there are only a few occasions when a STH can make money: inaugural home match, NJRB, etc.

I have season ticket in 014a as well, I've sold a couple of games on stubhub for basically cost and gone to the rest. I think with only 17 home games, as opposed to 81 in baseball, you would need to sell the majority of your games to cover your cost, so that shouldn't be a the deciding factor in renewing your tickets for next year.

I've had things that have kept me from going to all but two home matches so far and i've thrown the rest on either StubHub and now the TicketMaster Exchange. They have sold quickly for a nice 20-50% profit!
Granted, I have front-row aisle seats in the 200 level so I imagine that those are pretty attractive to people, but I am happy with my seats because of this.

Back to Pirlo...

For anyone interested in how he played yesterday against Croatia. Pirlo played in a rare 4-3-3 for him. Played a full game as always. After a shaky start team settled down and they controlled the game. Thanks to Pirlo quarterbacking. Literally. When they had possession he was sometimes so deep he was even or behind the CBs. Never really see him play with wingers, but he sprayed the deep ball in front of them very nice. As far as controlling the game, possession and passing, there was Pirlo then everyone else.

The guy that was the sideline reporter today tweeted this out before the game. Obviously didn't happen, but interesting nonetheless

It wasn't announced. Fire him immediately. They also cut to him during the match. Like they have the camera on him for a minute during the match. You can see the players running the background. Amateur hour on YES.

Wasn't trying to troll....Tim was in the truck and was my source. I guess they never got the approval to air it.

Only busting you. Didn't take long for Tim to become a hack!

Maybe they pulled it because he leaked it? Or they want to announce Iraiola and Pirlo separately to maximize the publicity.

I'll guess the latter. Iraola announcement Monday. Pirlo announcement Thursday (in case of loss v. Cosmos).

Or maybe this guy Tim is going to be on the broadcast so he spreads this rumor that a Pirlo signing is going to be announced so everyone stays glued to the screen...creating maximum exposure for himself...
