Yes it goes against there design principles, not joking about that. Save us Nike or Under Armour.
It doesn't look THAT bad. It's identical to the QPR jersey. But yeah, I don't know why they can't continue the pattern all the way around like the Waldo's.

The waldos didn't go all the way around but instead stopped like these did. It's all about the visibility of the numbers. The numbers have to contrast sharply enough so the TV announcers can distinguish the players from their booth.

Edit: I will make special execptions for when the alternative has some special significance to the club. Green for Notre Dame. This yellow is another nod to Colorado's flag so its ok, too.

This years Red Bull home jersey is looking more and more like Arsenal. I knew there was a reason I didn't like them. 
I think The release of jerseys needs to happen way before week 1 of the season.
