2016 CCL: MLS vs. LigaMX battle royale

Z4ch, do you think it's a coincidence that both DC and RSL collapsed after the 70th minute?
I feel like neither one of those teams was dominating the game at any point. They were able to hold strong for that amount of time before the better team got the upper hand and finally scored. They didn't capitalize earlier on in the game and after conceding they fell apart. I don't know if it had anything to do with being after the 7oth minute or not. All I know is that they played well for most of he match but couldn't capitalize on chances.

Zardes and Kennedy are the only Americans on the field for the Galaxy right now.

I think De la Garza is considered a Guam national when it comes to international soccer. I read something about it on Bleacher Report the other week.
Why were you reading Bleacher Report?

lol damn totally forgot about the games for some reason i thought they were next week..i only saw the results..well tigres won but from what i read was disappointing.

LA still is my pick to advance even though they drew at home...torreon is not a hard place to win in. especially since to me santos has been so so in the league

And remember, LA doesn't even have to win there. A draw that is 1-1 or higher puts them through.

I only use bleacher report also that I can see news stories for my favorite sports teams that I wouldn't see elsewhere. They have a bunch of posts and stories from Wales pundits and newspapers about Swansea City (my favorite premier league team)

I just happened to see a story about the coach of Guam and how he has managed to make a semi decent team from players who have some sort of relation to Guam. It was a pretty good read.

Ahhh, I've heard lots of feedback on Bleacher Report and "good read" has never been it.

I get it if they have some coverage of Swansea, but I wouldn't poke that site with a stick.

They usually have wild rumors about stuff that isn't going to happen posted. However, they have info about my favorite teams on the team stream app. Most of what I read isn't original content from bleacher report. It's usually just reposted stuff from other sources.

DC and LA were both thrashed by Liga MX competition.

LA looked like they didn't even want to be in the pitch and DC came into their game looking like they were defeated before they even started playing.

The schedule doesn't help any team in MLS - we're in preseason and they're mid-season, that's a huge advantage for Liga MX. That said, LA is a horribly constructed team with the number of egos, age, and lack of depth to the squad. I never would have thought they'd get thrashed in a one-off game, however I'm definitely banking on them dropping points as the season progresses when fatigue sets in and inter-squad spats erupt.

i just saw the highlights....didnt expect galaxy to be thrashed since i keep thinking santos is average in liga mx.
Van Damme had a bad night....getting beat by martin bravo? thats rough....i get it preseason form but that looked bad

DC i am not surprised, no hamid to save them and looked meh in preseason games. not sure if they are missing anyone.

seattle has the only chance since i dont think RSL has a shot, but well see.

Yeah, VD had looked solid in the first game and in pre-season, but he was exposed last night.

Seattle smoked LA 4-0 in a closed doors preseason match, too.

I wouldn't be surprised if this LA team flips this year.

Can't believe Seattle did the same exact thing they did at home: Score a few minutes before the half and then IMMEDIATELY concede. Git them in the ass twice.

ZERO! MLS teams in the CCL semis. Damn, didn't think that would happen. Guess NYC will have to represent better in the next one after we win the USOC this season.

EDIT: in 2 years time unless they adjust the calendar.

interesting....the team i thought less of ( RSL) was the one that put the most fight....that and Tigres played like garbage from what i read.

i disagree on the scheduling....tigres and america qualified for this tourney in December 2014, and tigres didnt have gignac and i think a couple other players that are starters now.

i do think that its time to get rid of this whole salary cap restrictions and let teams invest in getting better players after the number 3 DP. or at least make it less restrictive.
