My guess is near-zero at his full salary charge, but significantly more likely if NYCFC covers a significant part of the costs.
In a sport where the domestic league is essentially they universe of players, I could imagine an expansion team taking a guy like Mix, even if he is overpriced relative to performance because there aren't a lot of other alternatives. But, in soccer where the potential player pool is global, I can't see why they would absorb the full $750k.
If I had to guess, a return to Europe still feels a lot more feasible, though the unknowable piece is whether he personally wants to do it.
I think it depends on who we protect. He's far more talented than anyone taken in the 2014 EDraft.
I agree that his salary is likely an impediment to an expansion draft selection, but it's possible. If he is not taken, then it is pretty clear that he will be our once-an-offseason free cut - we will pay him out, and not incur the salary charge. Not sure where that would leave him in negotiating with other MLS clubs, but Europe beckons as well.
He is a good player and deserves a place where he can get on the pitch. I will root for him wherever he goes.

Meanwhile, David Villa is already in talks about extending his contract in NYC.

My thoughts are Minnesota would be willing to take a shot at him as one of their DPs because he can help draw fans due to the high Scandinavian population of Minnesota.
Maybe. The other factor here which we don't have insight into is what has really happened with him and Vieira this year and, to an extent, him and Kreis last year.
Without rehashing old debates, I think that even those of us who think his on-field performance has been disappointing feel like his complete exclusion from the team since June portends an issue larger than just on-field stuff. I would imagine Minnesota or Atlanta would do diligence on that and be sufficiently connected within the league to get perspective which could make them warmer or colder on him.

Yes. It seems impossible to figure out. His on field performances would suggest that he should be getting at least a little bit of playing time, so you wonder if there is a chemistry issue with the coach. But, this can't just be a bad relationship with Vieira, as Mix also lost playing time under Kreis as well, so maybe he is difficult to deal with. But, Mix has been nothing but a stand up guy publicly - expressing his support of the team, showing up to all the fan events, never griping about what must be a terrible situation to go through - none of which sounds like a guy who is a problem behind the scenes.
The whole thing is very confusing.
For the love that is all holy, if Josh Saunders is anywhere near the starting goalkeeping position in 2017, I will find where Vieira lives and light a bag of poo on his doorstep. Or something like that...

Now could it be possible that Mix' contract was negotiated with some clause in regard to MLS games?
Under PV he's essentially only played in friendlies and the Open.

I am a bit foggy on the details but didn't Mix and his father who may have also been his agent at the time block a move to Columbus because he didn't want to live there? He may refuse to go to Minnesota or any other smaller city teams.

Lampard retained on TAM contract (else left to retire). Torres and Casillas may not be available until the summer. I'll wait for Torres. And Johansen can start over Saunders until Casillas comes too.
The RB should be good in distribution and set pieces, and be able to slide back into a 3-man backline. The CB can be backup quality, but much more efficient use of the $200k+ we are paying Hernandez and Mena. It would also be nice if either pickup can play Iraola's CDM spot as a backup.

Interesting he still frequently posts in that thread. I went to the last page and there's a couple posts from him on there.
