2018 General MLS Transfer Rumors

He must becoming to us - says he’s been hampered by injuries as of late.

Our nightmare continues as soon as Marchisio starts underperforming as the Juvesplainers show up to enlighten us all about our soccer ignorance: "Well you see Marchisio is amazing but the club and PV are idiots with how they use him. If they had any clue first they would get Pirlo and then flank Pirlo only with players like Vidal and Pogba. Only once Pirlo is properly protected such that he can send his one of a kind passes to Marchisio is it even remotely reasonable to start expecting any goals. Until those exact conditions are met anyone that even thinks to question that some skill erosion may be at play is a complete tactical buffon that needs to watch more Serie A to truly appreciate soccer."

I really like that Accam deal for the Union. They aren't going to go out and get someone from overseas. They spent the league's money to bring in Accam on a 2 year deal. Good for them
Accam and Sapong give them two exceptional athletes up front. Absolutely shit loads of speed, and both have some creativity.

Honestly the Union have some great role players. They just need to add some more stars like Accam and they can be a dark horse contender.

Yeap. Good on them. This is the first time I can remember TAM being used to bring in a player from within the league. They gave up nothing essentially. Was never their money.

Except opportunity cost. Which you pointed out above, they were unlikely to use overseas

What's going on with Atlanta's DP slots this year then?
Villalba will be bought down with TAM. We don't know how much of a raise Nagbe got, but they will buy down either him or Martinez depending on whoever makes less.
Not that they're not stacked, but am I correct that Atlanta has not yet done much besides the 2 big splashes for Nagbe and Barco? Have they done the sort of depth signings we're doing?
I know there's still time.

Julian Gressel went from Rookie of the Year to bench player. Jeff Larentowicz can start at CDM or CB. Jacob Peterson is a nice option off the bench. They have Andrew Carlton and Miles Robinson, a GA CB, who didn't really play last year. They also have 4 more homegrown players signed besides Carlton.

For the most part. They've added a few more homegrown players to their roster, and have signed a few more young South American defenders that I think the jury is still out on. Jose Hernandez who is a LB has played on the Venezuelan U20 National Team and Franco Escobar, a CB from Argentina.

Not sure if either of those signings are going to be significant contributors or not

I think Atlanta is done making moves. They have 28 on their roster now.

They are stacked with attacking talent but I don't see anyone on their team who is going to play defense in front of the backline. Nagbe? Almiron? Are they just going to stick Larentowicz in when they play against better teams so they have someone in midfield playing defense? Going into the season it looks like a huge soft spot right in the middle of their spine to me. They may have a tough time matching up against other top teams while they destroy weak teams.

Check out Toronto's current roster. I think we are deeper than they are now.

That is a really good point. And gets me thinking more from a USMNT standpoint....can Nagbe play the 6? Get Bradley off the field and replace him with Nagbe. I think he has the tools to be able to play there.

Word of mouth only, but I saw a lot of comments from Portland fans that said Nagbe he is not a 6. At least not in the sense of being a ball winning destroyer.

Will be interesting to see how Atlanta lines up. Larentowitz and Parkhurst had pretty good years last year. Was that due to the roles each played in the system, or was Atlanta lucky that each at a career year, of sorts?
