2018 MLS All-Star Game Presented by Target (vs. Juventus) (Atlanta, Aug 1)

"Let's mic up Guzan" they said. "It would be a good idea!" they said...
Honestly is that even allowed? Technically he can hear anything the commentators are saying, and if they're saying tactic related things, can't that help benefit / detriment guzan such that he can tell the rest of the team info?

Seems a bit awkward. A cool idea in concept (for a friendly anyway), but not all that great in practice.

I love it -- especially enjoy listening to him direct the defenders. That's something you never get to hear, and it's fascinating.

I'm so happy they didn't go to him "Hey brad, what were you thinking when that header came in?" LOL

Things like this make me think, why don't we have this with the refs yet?

BWP doing BWP things.

I, too, love Carlos Vela. Shame we have never been in the running for a player with his profile.

What a night. If you have the opportunity to go to an All Star game, do it. Tonight was exceptional and the crowd was amazing. I’d say the only negative aside from BWP missing another penalty was that all the pyrotechnics during the pregame stayed in the stadium and it got smoky.

I’m pretty sure I was standing and watching the gam next to Steffen’s wife or girlfriend for like 30 minutes.

Saw basically everyone in the US Soccer landscape on the field before the match.

Davies was the most surprising player of the match. Kid has talent. Martinez was hungry and really wanted to score.

Also, it was great to see NYCFC’s next DP Sami Khedira. He gave me a thumbs up. He’s definitely a winter signing.

There's got to be a lot of teams thinking about Almiron. No way he's in MLS next year.

Where would you see him fitting in? I’m not sure he suits a top-tier team, as opponents will sit deep, which sort of voids his pace.

He probably would be great at a team like Newcastle or Burnley. I don’t know enough about the mid table teams in other leagues to name a fit.

Pls explain
I think he'd end up like Pirlo in NYCFC, in that the team isn't built for his method of play. Not his fault, but the way NYCFC should play and a system that Khedira would succeed in are not the same.

Dome has given us a quicker play set, where we tend to attack with quicker passes and more 1-2's. I think NYCFC should look more towards someone that is quick and nimble, similar to Maxi, but hopefully taller and stronger. I think Khedira is getting old and isn't the same player he was 3-4 years ago. Doesn't play defense and he hasn't really done anything for the team whenever I've seen him play for the DFB in recent years. He's better in a slower, more possessive system. He'd suffer against the counter, especially against a quick press (re: RBNJ).

I also don't think he's a big enough name to make an impact on drawing fans in. Pirlo was better in that regard, being a more well known player before coming here. Yes, people know Khedira, but he isn't on the level of legend that Pirlo is/was.
