2018 Roster Discussion

Sounds like TAM at $2 Million for the 2018-2019 seasons combined.

If this Club had ambition, they would make their 2nd DP a TAM player for 2018

$2M for each season or $2M usable over two seasons?

Over 2 seasons
But do keep in mind that if history holds true, the amount in 2019 will likely increase, so the $2m over 2 seasons is likely to actually be more in that.

Example (if spread out equally and increased in 2019 to $2.4m)
2018: $1m of TAM
2019: $1m of TAM + $0.2m of TAM increase
2020: $1.2m of TAM + additional increase
etc.

Hope to have more news soon but... Miguel Camargo is unlikely to return to NYCFC next season.
I'm pretty upset by this. He showed so much potential at the Gold Cup. I hope an MLS team buys him from his Panamanian team he can become MLS quality if a team is patient enough to let him adjust.

Is that a subtle teaser of something brewing?
Not so subtle I’m afraid. I’m told he’s generating a lot of interest from non-MLS clubs.

I guess it’ll come down to how much a team is willing to pay for him. Remember he hasn’t played in months and there’s no guarantee he won’t have any problems going forward.

To confirm, he's on loan this season and we don't have any of his sale rights unless we exercise the buy option.

Do we (you) know what the buy option is and if we can generate an MLS profit on a subsequent sale during the same window?

I was really asking whether the lead in was a teaser about some other more intriguing news, but reading it back I see that you were referring to more news re Camargo.

I have no interest in seeing Camargo back on this team.

None of our loaned players have generated anything worthy of them being purchased - outside of maybe Facey considering the circumstances of year one

I'm not certain I'm at 0 interest in seeing Camargo come back, but definitely not if it means spending considerable money.

Yeah, he looked very promising his last few times out with Panama, but he never really was able to put much together for us for some reason and we've seen that story before (Nemec). Now, it could be that he was beginning to round into form and could have been productive for us, but considering the major injury he's coming back from, its just not worth it IMO. Especially now that we've seen a bit more from Lewis (and I think we all agree that we need to see more).

No idea what his option price is and that would depend on what clubs want him and are willing to pay which would make it a risky move unless they’re willing to keep him.

Camargo means more competition for minutes with Lewis. I am not interested in that. I am also hopeful that we are lining up better central midfielders than Miguel Camargo for 2018. He's a step backwards

OTOH, he's historically been a goal scoring midfielder (as opposed to a assist-generating midfielder), and we have been in desperate need of that. Anyway, seems the point may be moot now.
