2018 Season Ticket Thread

Why is there a minimum price that I can set my ticket to sell for on StubHub? So I can't set my price as $10, but the club can? WTF

Pretty sure that was the Yankees Randy Levine policy regarding Legends tickets. He went on a radio show and sounded like an asshole. They want to keep the cost up so that the people in the luxury seats are sophisticated people. I remember when Legends tickets for Yankees went to like $150 per game closer to the first pitch. Now there's a minimum floor. Stupid.

My rep promised me after complaining on the phone that my 6 year daughter could escort the players this match. Glad I didn’t tell her. (Last season a rep said he’d come to our seats with a gift and never did. I told her and then had to take her to store to make up for it.). She told me today they don’t have spots for her because they are given to members of the youth soccer partnership. I asked why she promised it? And then i asked her how i downgrade to supporters seats. I’m so done with season tickets. I’ll sell every match I have in SS just to hold me spot for new stadium, if it ever happens. This club has no clue how to treat its most loyal fan base.

Thats pretty scummy two years in a row. I sometimes feel bad for the reps cause they are pretty much low-level, unskilled-labor grunts, but then I think, fuck them, they collect a paycheck to take a (figurative!) bullet for the front office. They deserve to eat shit when they screw up.

Yeah, I still got a chip on my shoulder from my first rep. I told him I wanted to cancel my tickets, he wasted an hour of my time to finish off by saying, oh btw no refunds ever. Like dude, I called you and my opening line was I want to cancel and get a refund, and he proceeded to read off some kind of script for canned responses ro my complains. Prick didn't even lie to me that I could escort the team out on the first ever match.

Today my rep emailed me saying my daughter could shoot on goal (which she might like more), but it’s only post-match. I’m not sure I stay past halftime since 8 is her bedtime (I play it by ear - if she’s whining we go home). That’s not their fault, but I can’t do it. Then they sent me 2 passes for the pre-match field pass without asking if I want them. But i sit front row behind the bench!!! My rep knows that, I watch the players warm up in front of me all match long. I can even interact if I want to.

Oh and she totally ignored my question about how I downgrade to SS seats.

They actually offered me other matches to escort. (Or my daughter to escort, would be weird if I did). But we don’t go on Saturday (and rep knew that). So it’s either this match or last match of the season. Not too many home Sundays left. I go Wednesday nights without her. Even 7 is pushing it at her age.

Said I’ll take the shot on goal thing and promise it to her if she stays the whole match. Maybe that way I actually get to stay too.

I also don't go on Saturday matches and my rep knows that as well, and when I first spoke to them about that and saying how it's not worth the money etc, that's when they announced that they were upping the ticket trade in program. So sometimes they do listen, but it's definitely not enough. I'm just worried that once I cancel they're gonna start emailing me like crazy, and every match I go to next season they're gonna hound me with "come back." Is this logical thinking? lol.

Trade in program sucks with seats like mine. I would have to move from my front row to sit with my extra guests. Probably even move sections. I'm so much better off just buying per match at the discounted prices I see from SH or the club itself when I want to go. Only reason I'd even downgrade to SS is to hold my place in line. And because they are GA (and I think can't be bought from the club each match) they actually sell close to face or better most matches. And if not, not a huge loss.

They club is really clueless when it comes to pricing and sales, and the shame is I spent an hour on the phone trying to explain the problems as nicely as I could. They promised they were working on it in the first few weeks, but now when I mention it hasn't changed, they don't even say they are trying anymore.

everything you say is pretty much my situation exactly. What is your seat? I sit 202 first row. I always bring a friend with me, so that means I utilize the trade in program, which moves me back usually to row 5,6, or 7, which means the first row seat was pointless to begin with- and I can usually find those seats for $10-20 cheaper than what I am charged on my card. For the price I pay now, I can find on SH tickets in the closer-to-the-field section for the same price, or cheaper..
So trade-in is pointless, oh and also- parking pass is bullshit because you have to buy a pass for all 17 matches which, if you don't attend matches on certain days due to consistent conflict (i.e. don't attend saturday matches or don't attend wednesday matches), the parking pass is actually more expensive.

I'm curious if it's public knowledge
a) What is the actual STH count
b) Rep : STH ratio

Being a player escort is a great thing for the kids - I highly recommend it if you can swing it.

Two of mine got to do it in 2016, and I really want my 10-year-old to have one more chance.

It's really a pity they've cut back on the number of chances for season ticket holders to get this benefit.

Front row of 103. And I can easily get tickets near my seats front row any match for like $5-10 less than I pay with my founders discount ($44). It's sad. Once I downgrade, I'll probably only attend 1-5 matches a season because I won't be so worried about 'having to use them since I paid for them' on the days I can go. They really screwed this whole thing up. I only hope it works better in the new stadium, my SS tickets are now my PSL, and I hope I can recoup some of that my listing them every match.

they don’t get it. At all. If they did, we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation.
I gave up my “PSL” because I don’t think it will matter. Even when the club gets a new stadium, I don’t think it will be hard to get good seats with or without season tix now. By the time the stadium is built, our attendance will look like the Red Bulls’.

This club still has tremendous potential but CFG or Patricof or both are just completely screwing it up.

front row 103! That's like directly in front of me haha.

What is PSL?
Also, I think once they see a drop in season tickets there's going to be one of a few things:
a) CFG leaves NYC
b) They start doing things better
c) Nothing changes and we have Columbus-levels of attendance

Personal seat license. Basically, you are paying to reserve a seat rather than for tickets.

Option C is likely the correct one. We are just a pet project used as a means to other ends moreso than a serious venture by CFG. They’ll accept lower attendance as long as they don’t have to finance a stadium... which makes me think we are never getting a stadium.

how can you even think something like this? They even say "Priority access to purchase seats in New York City FC's future soccer-specific stadium" so it must be true! The FO wouldn't lie to us!

Hey! I can’t post my tickets for sale on the portal anymore. Anyone have this problem? I’m curious if I could transfer the ticket to someone else to sell for me.

They removed that feature this season. Only way to sell now is to post on Stubhub without transferring. Buyer has to trust you’ll come through. Then if you are alerted they sold, manually transfer to buyer’s personal email. Then find a PC (phones don’t work!) to alert Stubhub you’ve made the transfer, so you can collect sales proceeds -10% fee. Then the club has said they will review every sale after the season and refund you the 5% fee (good luck with that).

This Stubhub arrangement is CONFUSING.

On Wednesday I bought tickets for tomorrow's game on Stubhub. They still hadn't been transferred tonight, so I called Stubhub and they were very helpful, quickly got me replacement tickets that were better seats at a higher price without charging me extra -- they were great. The new tickets were transferred to me about an hour later -- and trying to figure out how to actually get to my tickets on my phone was VERY confusing. I went to my Stubhub account, they weren't there. I went to my regular ticketmaster account, they weren't there. I then logged into NYCFC's ticket portal on their mobile app -- and that's where they were.

Whoever decided this was the best way to do things is absolutely nuts. This is madness, and a ton of work for me to buy tickets on Stubhub. Just completely ridiculous. The club needs to do better than this.

I like to think I'm computer literate, and it took me time to figure out how to use these tickets. You guys have complained that this is an awful system for sellers. It's pretty terrible for buyers, too.

One more thing: I knew what to expect because I had read this thread, but the idea that you get an email from Ticketmaster after buying tickets through Stubhub is insanity. Had I not known any better, I could have very easily gotten confused.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if this were all a big joke we had been playing on you? Like we were all in on it, but you, and Stubhub was actually the most user friendly ticket exchange ever conceived by mankind?

We’d all like that.

You want it to be one way...
