2019 CCL

Monterrey better tonight, but small edge became rout because Monterrey were allowed to foul all they wanted in midfield. The fouls were called, but no yellows for persistent infringement, so they just fouled and fouled and Atlanta could never establish an offensive rhythm.
Sounds like a solid game plan. Basically how the rest of Concacaf, save Mexico, plays against the US.

Red Bulls enter tonight’s game down 2-0 in aggregate. They get 2 goals right off the bat - first 12 minutes or so.

Then, they kind of sit back for the rest of the first half, no pressure, no urgency. Half ends 2-0.

I tune out and then check the score at 71st minute. Still 2-0. I tune in a couple minutes later, and it’s 2-2. I then watch Santos get 2 more goals in the next 5 minutes - the last of which was a one time volley from beyond the midfield stripe.

Outside of the fast start, they’ve looked horrible.

That's So Metro. That 4th Santos goal was AMAZING. SportsCenter Top 10 number one play.

I just don’t get why they were so tentative. They played with confidence and abandon and were tied after 9 minutes and then were tentative and tight the rest of the game.

“Specialists in failure?”

Sarcasm aside, seems like the wrong subs were made, the team was gassed and basically rolled over after the first goal. 20 minutes away from improbable penalty kicks after losing at home and give up four goals in ten minutes? Something something metro.

Joseph Martinez out there looking like he’s gonna kill someone.

Atl had some good looks but can’t seal the deal.

I think Robles looked total garbage based on only highlights. Could age be catching up with him? Because I have never seen him look so exposed and out of position and slow based on the highlight clips.

That keeper for CAI was out of his mind.

But my goodness, SKC are playing some very pretty football so far in this young season. I’m jealous of their tactics and execution.

They’ve even got Nemeth(!?!?) scoring goals.
Remember when we started the season playing extremely beautiful football last year?
...Good times...

If I had any Photoshop skills, I'd post the meme of Wolverine holding a picture of a soccer ball wearing a wig.

So next year for MLS!!!??

I watched a good part of the first half. Yes, Monterrey played really well, but Sporting KC weren't anything close to their usual level. They would miss easy passes and make poor decisions. They looked really out of it.

From what I know of Vermes he probably played most of last night's starters 90 against Montreal.

WOW didn't realize the top Mexican teams budgets were THAT high. It's like the MLS is French or even Dutch league up against upper tier EPL there should be no surprise we're not competitive .
Yes it was much more extra reme a difference than I had come to understand. I thought we were getting close.
