2019 International Duty

Keaton Parks has been called up for a summer training camp between May 26 - June 2. Though he is unlikely to miss any matches with NYCFC.

CHICAGO (May 22, 2019) – The U.S. will open its summer schedule with a combined preparation camp with players from the Senior and U-23 Men’s National Teams from May 26-June 2 in Annapolis, Md. The initial group will include senior National Team players who are eligible for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup along with a number of U-23 internationals who are getting ready for their own training camp to be held from June 10-16 in Salt Lake City.

The camp shifts gears the weekend of June 1, when those players not on the provisional Gold Cup roster depart and the senior team players from MLS and the remaining European-based contingent report. The complete MNT camp roster will be announced next week.

The final list of 23 players for the Gold Cup is due by midnight of June 5 and must come from the below provisional roster of 40 players that was submitted May 16 to Concacaf.

Knowing that only 2 keepers are rostered and given that all of the games are a relatively short plane ride away, it seems to me that Johnson shouldn't have to miss any games.

I'd be surprised if he made the final roster. Between Guzan and Steffen, those seem to be the top 2. Johnson might even be fourth on the depth chart.

Good find. If I am reading this correctly, Parks will be in camp from May 26 to either June 1 or 2, and then likely to a separate U-23 camp (with coach Kreis) from June 10-16. The first might have him out for the Columbus game. The second would not have him missing any time.

This also suggests that Johnson will be in camp from June 2 - the day after the Columbus game until at least June 5 when final Gold Cup rosters are due. That could have him out for the Cincinnatti game on June 6 given he would not have trained with the team. Then, if Johnson makes the team, he would probably miss Philly, Seattle and Portland, depending on how far the U.S. advances.

Steffen is the clear #1. After that, it is probably 2 of these 3: Horvath, Johnson & Guzan, with the first 2 being a little more likely given that Guzan hasn't been called by Berhalter.

Good for him - much deserved.

I see from an Internet search that the Copa America runs at the same time as the Gold Cup (starts one day earlier and final is on the same day). So, I would assume this would keep him out over the same period we are expecting for Sean Johnson. That would be missing Cincinnati in one week and then later against Philly, Seattle and Portland, depending on how far Peru advances.

Bless the rains that Sands didn't get the call for either tournament.
Is Luxembourg playing anything?
They have a friendly on Sunday and then two Euro qualifiers a week later. That would affect the Columbus game tomorrow (maybe) and Cincy on Thursday. Maybe the US Open Cup the following week.

Peru for some reason tends to do well in Copa America, and Guerrero tends to score in bunches. On paper, they shouldn't get very far in the tournament, unlike the USMNT that should get to the final or be in crisis.

I'm crossing my fingers that both Peru and Uruguay make it to the semi-finals or further. While it would mean that we would be without Callens for our 7/3 match against Seattle, they would be without both Lodeiro and Ruidiaz.
