2019 NYCFC Kit Thread

Picked up the new kit. Looks great live. Note that it’s a few inches longer than last season’s secondary kit, otherwise fits the same. Very happy with the look.

As for the anthem jacket, it’s parachute like material, and the hoodie is a heavier cotton/polyester mix-like material of seasons past. Both look good live and certainly pop with the color, but passed on both for now due to some sizing/fit quirks.

LOL. Hey MLS, thanks for that contract with Adidas!

Gross. I don't think I've liked a puma kit since the kits they had for their African nations (Ghana, Ivory Coast) back in the 2010 World Cup.
I can officially say this is the only time I'm glad we have that MLS-wide adidas contract.
Glad I got a few MCFC Umbro kits from back in the day. Those were class.

Agreed, Puma’s kits are horrible. And if you think adidas authentic fit tight, you haven’t tried Puma’s almost second skin like fit.

I agree mostly about their kits, but I think keeping Nike and Adidas on their toes is good for fans.

Agreed on the MCFC Umbro kits. I think Umbro and NB are some of the freshest kits in the game rn. I'd love to have seen Umbro on Man City duty but I don't know if they have that kinda cash.

I know I'm probably in a super minority here but I'm kind of over the whole new kits every year where they just add some stupid pattern or something to make it different so people will buy it. If there's one thing I think I'd like to see football borrow from American sports it's just to have a standard long term uniform that barely changes year to year.

One thing I noticed about the new kit when I hung it next to the current away and last year's home. Is how low and much smaller the Etihad logo is and it makes it look a little weird imo. The size of the logo could stay as is but the placement just throws the shirt off a bit.

The oddest thing about the kit so far to me is how the material for the back of the shirt is a slightly different color to the sleeves which is a slightly different color to the front. I understand the desire for different perforation patterns and even different fabric composition according to sweat and heat zones, but the color difference is sloppy to me. I wouldn't be surprised if custom colors are too expensive and they just picked the closest stock colors for the 3 different qualities. Am I being too picky? I don't know, I'm gonna guess that these jerseys are wildly expensive relative to the cost of production and raw materials.

I don't even know why I bother complaining any more about adidas kits or mass-market swag in general. It seems the overall attitude is "we have a monopoly on this stuff so they'll buy whatever crap we put out".

I assume the lower placement is to support the vertical stripe. It provides more room to extend the stripe below the crest.

The typeface also uses a narrower font - not narrower in terms of kerning, but the thickness of the lines. I think this is to support the cleaner look of the design.

I can totally see what you're talking about but it almost gives the shirt this look of the print being too small for the shirt. Almost as if you go to a clothing store and see a small shirt and an XL shirt with the same size print on it. Just looks weird. Haha

I hated it when I saw it, but now that I've got it, it's growing on me. The length of these things always feels a little absurd, but can we please get some buttons or a collar? V-necks ain't it, chief.

Just got the jersey in the mail. Really digging this one. Spot on about the color of the back and sleeves being different from the front panel. Fortunately it’s not super obvious.
