2019 Offseason Calendar

We are quick to rail on the team for behind closed doors games -- they are wrong, stupid, and self-serving. MLS should outlaw them during preseason. But remember that by playing all away games in preseason, the behind closed doors could be the decision of the home team (in this instance, LAFC and Inter Miami).

Now if NYCFC had their own choice, they'd probably play preseason games behind closed doors, too, but at least in these instances, this is probably the opponent's call.

i mean technically the UAE games it was nycfc control i think and i think both games were shown vs AIK and coppenhagen, so i do agree if in control they can show, also the facilities play a part.

Sure -- if they're not playing at a real stadium there may not be an ability to get a good stream, and that plays a role. But generally speaking, MLS should really endeavor to be more fan-friendly with things like this. Every effort should be made to standardize this and allow fans to watch preseason games if they want.

One of those games was on YES, so that's an example of the club actually being open.

And didn't YES also do one of the preseason games last year? I actually amend my point from a post earlier -- the team has been pretty open with preseason games when they can.

i could of sworn the desert cup game we did was over youtube like all of them tend to be.

last year the only yes game IIRC was vs nashville...in nashville but nashville had the free youtube stream so many watched that.

EDIT: Typo

OK, there ya go. I knew it was one of them. We've also streamed the overseas preseason games in the past, as well. My point remains -- when possible the team has actually been pretty open with its preseason games. When they travel to other teams is when they aren't able to get it done. I can respect how the team tries to run its postseason, even though they get screwed by other secretive organizations.

Any ideas what’s going on at training right now?
Who is running the show? Just Deila and Mehdi?

I don't think anyone is at training today. Tomorrow they are leaving for Orlando. That's when training will start...

Does Deila has his visa yet? Probably not...

The Man City Women coach is starting in February...

The coaches left are Javier Perez and Rob Vartughian and Mehdi.

Today is just physicals day and they travel tomorrow, so I think Sunday evening or Monday morning is probably the first training day.

I saw a rumor when he was hired that NYCFC was hoping Deila's visa would be sorted out by the end of this week, that he might make it here in time for the first training session. Dome was hired on June 11, 2018, he got here the day before our first game on June 24 -- so it took him 12 days. Would think at the very worst Deila's here by the end of the week.

That’s more of what I meant. What are the players doing and who is actually leading them. The silence from the club is annoying. Give us a weekly recap or at least some social media interaction from the training center.
so we’ll basically play our first game with our players barely having spoken to Deila?
Second guessing dropping $50 to go to the game on the 18th.

It's crazy that 3 days into training camp, we have a preseason game that someone is charging actual money for.

And on your other point, it feels like the information flow is even worse this year than it was last year.

Training camp began today -- the players should all be at the training center. We don't have a roster of participants yet. We just got the full preseason schedule a couple days ago, and it didn't even include times or dates of some of the games. It's completely insane. The team's job is to help excite fans for the new season, and it's almost like the organization has completely forgotten to reach out to the fans as they get set for what could be the biggest year yet when you combine CCF with a Cup chase.
